I hope no pun intended Yuta’s solo debut promotions don’t overlap with Jaehyun’s solo debut (vice versa depending on who’s releasing theirs first) like how Ten’s and Taeyong’s did but with SM being SM, it’s probably gonna happen.

“Your followers want me to do what?”
Sunghoon was positive he’d misheard you. However, part of him hoped you’d confirm the life-altering information you’d casually uttered without even bothering to look away from the TV screen.
“Hoon!” you exclaimed, your fingers aggressively moving about the gaming console. “Oh, my God, they’re coming after me! Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK—” you screeched— “Nonononono I can’t take them by myself! You testicle-guzzling cocksucker, why did you die when I needed you the most?!”
Sunghoon watched you struggle warily. Your leg was bouncing with anxiety and your eyes bulging out of their sockets. He wasn’t entirely sure you were breathing. Beads of sweat were clinging to your forehead and your face was scrunched up in a weird, constipated expression.
There was a good chance you’d utter fouler insults if he disturbed you while playing, but he couldn’t stop himself from broaching the subject. “Are we just going to pretend you didn’t say the thing you just said?”
“The thing about you being a testicle-guzzling cocksucker?” you gritted. “No.”
Sunghoon rolled his eyes. “The thing about your followers wanting us to date for a video.”
For a few moments, you didn’t deign to acknowledge him. Then, as if a switch inside you had flipped, you pulled the TV’s plug and turned to face him. “Would it be weird?”
Wow. Okay, Sunghoon mused. I think it would be a fantastic idea and a dream come true, but I don’t trust myself around you. Even as a mere friend.
However, instead of voicing his thoughts, the boy simply shrugged. “I don’t know. We’ve been friends for several years now. I’m a regular on your YouTube channel and I think your fans are aware of the dynamics of our relationship. What do they mean when they say they want us to date? Physical intimacy aside, we already do everything couples do.”
“I think they want us to be romantic,” you admitted. “Go on a date, hold hands, cross some lines.”
“Cross some lines?” Sunghoon raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lip curling in a smirk. “Is this you speaking or your subscribers?”
Groaning in exasperation, you shoved his shoulder. He fell back on the couch, laughing. “Shut up, dickface! You know I’ve been swamped this semester. My influencer gig has been seriously lacking. I need to step up—do what they want me to do. Besides, we only have to be girlfriend and boyfriend for 24 hours. It’s really not that big a deal. Are you in or not?”
Sunghoon took a few seconds to mull over your words. Sure, he would love to be your boyfriend for 24 hours. As long as his fantasies were brought to reality, he didn’t care if the whole relationship was fake and short-lived.
For far too long, he’d pined after you. He thought he was doing an excellent job at hiding his feelings, but then you decided to make vlogs for fun. That’s when shit truly went downhill.
Within a few years, you’d amassed a following of over 5 million on YouTube and 3 million on Instagram. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say you’d become somewhat of a local celebrity.
Being one of your closest friends, Sunghoon was often featured in your videos. Initially, he’d baulked at the idea of being filmed, but you’d worked your magic on him. The boy soon found himself being comfortable around cameras.
Even though Sunghoon never started his own YouTube channel, his popularity grew along with yours. His Instagram had garnered over two million followers, and courtesy of his good looks and attractive physique, he’d been offered a bunch of brand deals too.
You’d scowled at how far Sunghoon’s pretty privilege had gotten him. While you busted your ass coming up with unique ideas and editing your videos to perfection, all he needed to do was show up.
What you didn’t know, though, was that part of the reason he’d become a heartthrob among the youth was you.
You might have been dumb and blind, but your followers certainly were not. They’d realised how Sunghoon looked at you—his eyes always twinkled and a fond smile automatically adorned his lips whenever he caught sight of you.
To add to that, your fans had pointed out habits he didn’t even know he possessed. For example: idly braiding your strands; bringing you snacks whenever he swung by your apartment; saying hey, sunshine and giving you a side hug by way of greeting; disguising his compliments as insults.
The list was very long.
They’d noticed the elastic he kept around his wrist at all times too—it was one of the two you’d used to tie his hair into little ponytails because you were convinced you could transform him into Boo from Monsters, Inc.
Sunghoon himself had forgotten the reason he wore the elastic around his wrist. All he knew was that it was yours and it felt right. But when he read the comments obsessing about it, he rushed to watch the video your fans were referring to.
And damn, they were right.
Sunghoon didn’t know if you’d seen the comments your fans regularly left on your various social media pages. You’d never mentioned anything about the community calling you “couple goals,” and he was too much of a coward to inquire if you were aware.
It was infuriating to know how transparent he was. Sunghoon wished he’d never gotten used to the camera and let slip his true self.
Perhaps this was the cost of gaining the boyfriend material label—his unrequited feelings exposed for the entire world to see.
Sunghoon would never admit it, but he’d spent the better part of a day reporting everyone who’d shipped him with you. The entire incident had truly made him go off the rails.
However, today’s revelation was unexpected. It was an opportunity. A chance to experience something he’d desired for many years. Suddenly, he found himself thanking those busybodies online instead of cussing them out for being ridiculously invested in his love life.
Sunghoon knew saying yes to your proposition would bite him in the ass later on. He knew he’d crave more of you once he got a taste of being your boyfriend, and giving this fake relationship a shot would definitely make it harder for him to get over you in the future. He knew he was a massive idiot for willingly indulging in impending heartbreak, but he could always cross that bridge when he came to it.
“Okay,” he said, meeting your gaze. “I’m in.”

EAT ME UP - JAKE SIM
TEASER 2
Tumblr media
synopsis : in which jake knows you're bad for him, but he just can't help himself. after all, in the end, the answer is always you. nobody else matters. not even the guy you're seeing, his friend, sunghoon.
word count : total work is 20.1k words, this excerpt is 1.2k words
genre : fwb, angst, bits of fluff, unrequited love, jake x fem!reader x sunghoon
playlist : coming soon
expected release date : later this week
Tumblr media
vi. I CAN’T REFUTE MY INSTINCTS
Sunghoon, somehow, had become even more protective of you as of late. You figured it had something to do with whatever happened between him and Jake at the party, and you had your suspicions of what went down, but when you’d asked Sunghoon, he always just tried to ignore the situation. Plus, you didn’t know if he would tell you the full truth anyways.
So, you got the genius idea to confront Jake instead.
Who were you kidding, it was a horrible idea. But you needed to have your suspicions confirmed, at the very least. So you texted him:
you : jake
Within seconds, a response came:
do not answer : yo
do not answer : what’s up
You couldn’t believe he was hitting you with a “yo” right now. Was he allergic to social cues?
you : i need to ask you about something
you : can i come over later
you : don’t get any ideas
He took a minute before responding:
do not answer : ig
do not answer : jays not home rn just come now
you : ok
You left your apartment within minutes. You weren’t exactly eager to see Jake, but nonetheless, you really wanted to know what was up with the party the other night. Even after you suffered through a hangover, you remembered that moment perfectly.
When you arrived at Jake’s apartment building, you chewed on your lip. You weren’t exactly sure why. You knew that nothing would happen, and all that was going to happen was Jake telling you the truth.
At least you hoped.
When you went to knock on his door, it swung open, Jake’s large figure greeting you before you even had a chance to register what was happening. He stepped to the side and let you walk in. You only made your way to further down his entrance hallway; you wanted to be in and out of here as quickly as humanly possible.
Jake trailed your figure and met you at the end of the hallway. He stood directly across from you and mirrored your body language as he leaned against the wall and crossed his arms.
“So,” you started, not wanting to waste any more time.
“So.”
You sighed, “I need you to be completely transparent with me, Jake.”
He gave you a pointed look, “What’s the problem?” He didn’t seem all too thrilled that you were here for once, which was a genuine surprise for you. You didn’t fail to notice how his lip was still busted, so you went ahead and bit the bullet:
“What happened to your lip?”
The question was simple, it could be chalked up to a friend having concern for another friend. But it wasn’t. You weren’t even really friends, and your only concern was the reason behind the busted lip. Not the person suffering the blow of it.
Jake’s gaze faltered slightly and you almost missed it. He swallowed quickly, “Nothing. I just hit it on something.”
“Bullshit,” you snapped back, “that’s bullshit and we both know it.”
“Why do you even care?” He pushed, his annoyance at you now becoming prevalent.
You rolled your eyes but had to think for a second. Why did you care? You didn’t care about Jake’s lip, you could give less of a fuck. You desperately needed to know about why it happened though. And why Sunghoon had suddenly flipped a switch. You weren’t stupid, you obviously knew something went down. But you needed your suspicions to be confirmed at the very least.
“You’re hurt, Jake,” you lied through your teeth, “anyone with eyes can see that your lip is fucked up. I care about whether you’re hurt. And I have a feeling it has to do with Sunghoon,” you paused, “and I’m sure you know that I should know what happened. But he hasn’t told me anything.”
You finally looked at him again, “Which is why I came to you.”
Jake sighed, running a hand through his hair. You knew you’d cracked him. It was almost too easy. You just hoped what he admitted was the full truth.
He licked his lips before speaking, “You’re right. This,” he motioned to his busted lip, “does have to do with Sunghoon. There. You happy now?”
So you were right. You desperately needed to know the details, though. You didn’t give up that easily.
“Jake.”
“What?”
“What happened between you guys?”
He let out another sigh, then pursing his lips to fight a scowl. He laughed a bit to himself before clearing his throat:
“We fought.”
You weren’t shocked. Between Sunghoon’s newfound behavior and Jake’s altered physical appearance, you assumed that was what happened. However, you feigned shock so he could continue.
“Yeah, I know, right? Funny. Good guy Sunghoon tried to beat the shit out of me,” he laughed through the pain, a look of discontent in his eyes.
“Why… why would he do that?” You mustered out. You scared yourself sometimes with how well you could act.
“You tell me.”
Your words temporarily genuinely got caught in your throat, “W- what?”
Jake tilted his head at you, “He’s your boyfriend.”
“Jake, you already know that he refuses to tell me anything about this. Plus, he and I aren’t dating anyways.”
“Really,” he commented passive aggressively, “because for someone who isn’t dating you, he was really protective over me helping you. While you were throwing up, mind you.”
“Huh?”
It started to click. The appearance of Jake, followed by the appearance of Sunghoon, Sunghoon barking Jake’s name, them leaving, and Sunghoon coming back, alone. And, of course, the busted lip.
“Yeah. Your little not-boyfriend was mad that I was your knight in shining armor for once, not him,” he scoffed, “and he told me to back off.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. Said he has suspicions about me or some shit like that.”
You laughed at his words. Of course Sunghoon had suspicions about Jake. You would have suspicions too if you were him.
“What’s funny?”
You attempted to return to normal, “Nothing, nothing. It’s just- Jake. You really can’t be mad about him having suspicions.”
Jake paused and chuckled while running a hand through his hair once more, “Yeah, he’s not wrong for having them, I guess.”
You rolled your eyes playfully at him before becoming a bit more serious, “Okay. Well, uh, I’m sorry about, y’know, that,” you motioned to his lips, “and- and thank you. For helping me all those days ago. And for being honest with me.” You gave him a genuine smile.
“Yeah, of course, uh, I’ll see you around then?” Jake said as you started walking towards his apartment door.
“Maybe,” you left him hanging, and as you were going to pull the door open, you turned to face him one last time as he waved bye to you.
Pulling the door open, you turned around, ready to leave. Instead, you ran into a tall figure, who was clearly trying to enter while you were trying to exit. So much for trying to go to see Jake unnoticed.
The man you ran into was none other than Jay.

Blackpink reaction to their s/o being insecure because of shippers
Jisoo
Tumblr media
Jisoo had noticed that something was bothering you for quite some time already. You didn’t speak up about your worries though and she didn’t want to pressure you into talking. Therefore, she kept quiet and simply opted to observe you in case your state would worsen. But overall, you seemed to be fine, so weeks passed without Jisoo ever figuring out what was wrong, and it took a stupid TV commercial to open her eyes.
The two of you were watching some TV when the teaser for the upcoming KBS Music Festival came on which caused Jisoo to chuckle.
“Great, now the shippers will go crazy again.”
She laughed amused, because the clip was cut very unfavorable and showed Jinyoung and her in the same scene.
Since they had been the special MCs for an award show together, countless dating rumors circulated, and a surprisingly high number of fans actually wanted to see them together. For Jisoo, this situation was really funny. She liked Jinyoung, he was a decent guy, but she couldn’t ever picture herself with him. Mostly, of course, because in her head, you were a fixed part of her future, but also because she didn’t think that Jinyoung and her were a good match. Therefore, she sometimes read all the weird conspiracy theories by the fans when she wanted to have a good laugh.
Apparently, however, you weren’t able to laugh about this situation. When Jisoo glanced at you, she could see that you were gulping thickly as if you were choking down some tears. Her demeanor immediately changed, and she reached out to grab your hand.
“What’s wrong, Y/N?”
She asked concerned, but you only shook your head in response.
It was clear to Jisoo though that something was bothering you. Intently, she thought about what could have caused your sudden mood change until the penny dropped at last.
“Jagiya, you’re not worried about Jinyoung and me, right?”
You stayed quiet for a while, confirming Jisoo’s assumption which made her feel guilty for not realizing it sooner.
“I’m not worried that you’ll cheat on me. But the rumors always remind me how much better than me you could do and that your fans would probably tear me apart if they knew that you are dating someone like me.”
Your words knocked the air out of Jisoo’s lungs, and she almost gasped in shock.
“What are you talking about? Please don’t say something like that ever again. You are the only one I want to be with and the only one that can make me happy.”
She stated clearly, wondering whether she hadn’t made her love for you obvious enough in the past.
“If you want to, I can talk with the management and ask whether they can make an official statement, denying the rumors.”
Jisoo wouldn’t let any possibility slide to make you realize that the rumors were absolutely ridiculous and that she didn’t want anyone else beside her but you. If those shippers were making you sad, she had to find a way to handle them.
Jennie
Tumblr media
“What’s wrong, baby?”
Your question ripped Jennie from her train of thought, and she cursed herself inwardly for not being able to hide her emotions better.
“Nothing, I’m fine.”
She smiled, hoping that you would believe her. It would be selfish of her to complain about a thing that she knew was making you insecure. Exes were a delicate topic in every relationship, but those conversations were even harder when there were thousands of people out there that still wanted to see you together with your ex.
“I can see that you’re lying, Jennie.”
You softened your voice and laid one hand on her thigh in order to catch her attention.
In defeat, Jennie sighed, but still avoided your gaze. She couldn’t make a scene now, but if she saw the concern in your eyes, she knew that she would probably break down.
“It’s nothing important; just the same old. Rumors have spread again about...Kai and me. Just because we’ve been spotted in the same part of the city on the same night.”
Only saying those words were making Jennie feel nauseous. They brought back the memories about all the hate that she had received during her dating scandal and now every ship with another idol that she was being associated with made her anxious.
“Oh.”
You answered simply, causing Jennie to feel guilty for bringing it up.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. I swear, I would have never gone to that restaurant if I had known that he was in the area too.”
She immediately apologized, feeling tears starting to pool in her eyes.
“Don’t be ridiculous, Jennie. None of that was your fault.”
You tried to flash her an encouraging smile, but Jennie could still see the insecurity in your eyes.
“I’m so sorry that you have to go through all of that because of me. If I could make it all stop, I would.”
She grabbed your hand and you squeezed hers tightly.
“It’s ok. I guess we both have to learn how to live with all those rumors.”
You sighed while smiling sadly.
Jennie wished that there was a way to stop people from stirring up both of your insecurities over and over again, but there was none. The only thing you could do was to try giving each other strength. Therefore, Jennie pulled you into a hug while apologizing once more for causing all that trouble.
Chaeyoung
Tumblr media
New dream couple? 10 reasons why BTS’ Jungkook and Blackpink’s Rosé are a perfect match
When Chaeyoung read the headline of the newest article on one of South Korea’s most popular news pages, she rolled her eyes. For some reason, there seemed to be an army of shippers out there that wanted to see her and Jungkook together and were analyzing every little “interaction” of theirs to the smallest detail. In the beginning, she had ignored them, because there were a million rumors about her going around and she couldn’t pay attention to all of them. But when the voices of the people claiming that they were dating got louder and louder, she began to be bothered. Not because of herself, but because of you.
It was obvious that you were starting to feel insecure, because of the countless fans and reporters that were claiming that Jungkook and her were the perfect match. This article would only rub salt into your wound once more, causing Chaeyoung to feel endlessly guilty. Therefore, she immediately rushed home after work with your favorite takeout and some flowers in her arms.
“Hey baby.”
She greeted you happily right when she entered the apartment before snuggling up to you, causing you to chuckle.
“Hi to you too. What have I done to deserve all this love?”
You joked, but Chaeyoung just played it off.
“I love you and only you. That’s all.”
She smiled, but in that moment, you seemed to have realized what all of this was about.
“So this is about the article...”
Your expression changed immediately, and instead of your cute smile, a heavy frown was decorating your face now.
“I’m so sorry about that, Y/N. I don’t know where that is coming from again. I swear, I haven’t done anything. You are the only one for me. I would never do anything to fire up those ridiculous rumors. Please don’t worry about them.”
Chaeyoung started rambling, but she simply needed to make sure that you weren’t feeling upset. She knew where those insecurities of yours were coming from and they were absolutely valid, but she still wanted to free you of them; not only now, but sustainably.
Therefore, Chaeyoung started to be even more careful in the future. Not that she would have done anything to encourage the rumors in the past, but now she was paying even more attention to everything she was saying or doing. At award shows, for example, she always made sure to stand as far away from BTS as possible, so that there was not a single picture released that showed Jungkook and her in the same frame. In return, however, that lead to a number of opposing headlines.
All about the breakup of Jungkook and Rosé
Why do BTS and Blackpink hate each other?
Chaeyoung couldn’t care less about those articles though. As long as they helped to ease your insecurities, she would bare the hate.
Lalisa
Tumblr media
“Which one sounds better, babe? LaBam or BamLisa?”
Lisa laughed while reading the newest articles about another addition to her countless ships; with her best friend BamBam. It was really amusing to her to watch all those fans colleting evidence to prove her relationship with the other Thai idol. Although she had to admit that if she wouldn’t know better, she might have believed those rumors too. Their stories sounded pretty conclusive sometimes.
“I didn’t even notice that I was looking at him!”
Lisa gasped before giggling when she looked at another Twitter post that made it look like she was looking at her friend in awe.
Her amusement soon died down, however, when Lisa realized that she wasn’t hearing any laughter from you. Confused, she averted her gaze from her phone to pay attention to you. You were staring ahead while the glistening in your eyes almost made it seem like you were about to cry.
“Y/N?”
Lisa called out your name in order to shake you from your trance.
“You would make a cute couple, wouldn’t you?”
You smiled, but the sadness in your eyes was giving away that you weren’t joking.
“What?”
Lisa asked perplexed, being caught off guard by your insecurities. She had never known that you were thinking about such things. The two of you were so happy together and Lisa had never even thought about dating BamBam.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Look, Leo is climbing up the curtain!”
Quickly, you tried to play off your statement by drawing attention to the cats, but while Lisa had to rush off to save her curtains, your question was still stuck in her brain.
This didn’t come from nowhere; you must have been seriously insecure all this time. A massive wave of guilt immediately washed over Lisa and she knew that she had to make it up to you. Therefore, she got off work early the next day in order to spoil you and treat you to a nice, homecooked dinner later that night. It took her several hours and some tries to get it right, but in the end, she managed to make some dishes that were actually enjoyable, and everything was ready for you when you came home.
“What is this??”
You gasped astonished and Lisa immediately wrapped her arms around your waist to pull you into the apartment.
“A token of my love and a thank you for always being by my side. I wouldn’t want to conquer this crazy world with anyone else.”
Lisa smiled, causing you to blush cutely.
It seemed like she had to surprise you more often from now on.

send me an ask or message to be added to the taglist!
"Jungwoo?" you asked, peering at him. He was clearly trying to hide himself, but you knew it was him. You unrecognised his lips, and hoped that wasn't creepy, but what deterred you was the swelling around the left side of his jaw. "Are you okay?"
"Hey, Y/N. I'm fine." He tried to give you a reassuring smile, but winced as the action twinged his swollen features.
"You don't seem too fine," you commented, trying to peer at the rest of his face, under his hood.
"I've had worse," he shrugged, wincing again. "Look, can we go inside?"
You frowned, pulling open your apartment door before ushering him inside and pulling down his hood, acting fast and catching him unaware, only to gasp at the state of his face. Along with his swollen jaw was a black eye, and a gash across his forehead that had recently ceased its bleeding, judging by the dark, dried blood around the site of injury
"Oh my god, Jungwoo, what happened?"
"Listen, I said it's fine-"
"Come on, let me patch you up." You grasped his arm, marching him towards the elevator, and he got the message that his protesting was worthless and you wouldn't be taking no for an answer. Once in your apartment, you pulled a chair out from your kitchen table and pushed Jungwoo firmly down onto it, before digging the first aid kit out of your cupboard.
Jungwoo was silent through the whole affair, and you sensed that some of this was surprise. It didn't seem like he was used to this - being taken charge of, that was. He seemed like the type of guy who took charge of everything and everyone he encountered. Well, you supposed, he had met his match.
He was a good patient, and only flinched once, when you brushed his wounds with an antibacterial wipe. Finished your cleaning and bandaging, you leaned back against your kitchen counter, eyeing the man up. He said nothing, simply looking back at you with an undetectable look on his face. His lips were set in a straight line, though his eyes were soft.
“Do you want a drink?” you asked him eventually, breaking the silence. “I have decaf coffee, tea, hot cocoa-”
“Hot cocoa, please!” Jungwoo interrupted, looking excited all of a sudden, despite his injuries. You nodded, and went to prepare two hot cocoas. Silence fell again, and it was a strangely comfortable silence considering you were near-strangers.
“So,” you spoke after a few moments, “I know I said I wouldn't ask questions. But I did just fix your face, so I think you kinda owe me a little explanation.”
“Hey, hey. This face? Could never need fixing. You can’t fix perfection.”
You gave him a look. “You’re avoiding the subject, Jungwoo.”
“Alright, alright,” he raised his hands in surrender. “I’m a street racer.”
You paused for a few beats, looking at him. Searching his face for any sign of amusement, waiting for a gotcha!
It didn’t come. “A street racer?”
“You don’t believe me?” he asked. He sounded genuine enough. You were left wondering whether he was, in fact, a street racer… or a pathological liar.
“You don’t look like a street racer,” was all you said, as you handed him his cocoa. He took a sip.
“Then, what do I look like?” he questioned. A model, you thought. Outwardly, however, you simply shrugged, and tried to hide your blush by taking a sip of your drink, which was far too hot. “You can come see me in action if you want, baby. I’m racing again tomorrow night, midnight.”
You raised a skeptical eyebrow at him. “Follow a mysterious man, who I’ve found covered in blood on two separate occasions? Come on. Even to you, that must sound a little shifty.”
Jungwoo shrugged. “You’re the one who invited me into your home, babe."
You sighed -  you couldn’t really fight him on that one. You wrapped your hands around your mug tightly. “I don’t know anything about you, Jungwoo. I don’t even know your last name-”
“Kim,” he interrupted. “Kim Jungwoo.”
You roll your eyes. “Fine. Well I know your last name, now. But still. How do I know you’re even telling the truth?”
Jungwoo smiled, his lips twisting upwards in the corners in the most endearing way possible. He looked into your eyes. “Y/N. Darling. Why would I lie?”
You give him a cynical look. “Really, Jungwoo? There are some serious creeps out there. Creeps who tell many different lies for many different reasons. And none of them are good reasons.”
“Just trust me, okay? Take a leap of faith.” You raised an eyebrow at him. Most creeps weren’t this pretty. “A leap right into my arms,” he continued, stretching his arms wide as an invitation.
Snorting out a laugh, you delivered a shove to his shoulder. Gently - you didn’t know the extent of his injuries. “I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Midnight, right?”
“Midnight,” he confirmed. He smiled at you, in a way that you couldn’t help but smile back. “See you then.”
With that, he was gone, leaving you alone in your kitchen once more. Jungwoo always seemed to come and go, much like a tornado, leaving you shell-shocked and windswept in his wake. Street racing, hm? You shook your head to yourself. Just what were you getting yourself into?

check you out (part 2) | connor mcdavid
part 1
Teaser: “Really wanted to get to know me, huh?”
Tumblr media
You weren’t desperate. If a guy said he was going to text you, you waited until he did so. You didn’t count down the minutes, or jump whenever you got a notification to see if it was him. You just weren’t that type of gal. Usually.
It started with an email from your school, an hour after you got home from giving Connor your number in the parking lot. Even though your text messages and emails had clearly different ringtones, your shoulders still slumped when you saw that it wasn’t him. You thought you could tell when someone gave you longer looks, you thought you could tell when someone was interested in you. At least, a little.
But, you still knew nothing about Connor besides his healthy eating habits and his somewhat shy but also strong demeanor. Maybe he’s just not actually into you, you finally sighed around 9:30 pm, hours after you had gotten home. You hated the way you were feeling and you hated how one guy you barely knew just decided to open up shop in your brain with clearly no intention to deliver.
To take your mind off of things, you took a long shower and prepared yourself for bed. While your music played, the song paused, alerting you of a notification. Coaching yourself, you ignored it. If it was him, he could wait a few minutes. If, it was him.
Exactly two minutes later, the music paused again with the same tone, confirming that you had a text waiting for you. You were basically done at that point, doesn’t hurt to end a shower early. As if someone was watching your excitement over, technically speaking, a work crush, you kept your composure as you dried yourself off and moisturized your skin. Once you were completely done with your rushed night routine, you took a deep breath and finally looked at your phone.
Unknown Number: Hey, it’s Connor. Did you make it home okay?
You bit your lip, adding the number to your contacts before you began typing a response, I did, thanks! How about you?
Connor: I’m not going to lie, I did trip on my way up to my place and nearly lost everything I bought at the store today
You: Seems like you’re just destined for destruction, huh? First the store’s machine, now your own groceries
Connor couldn’t help but laugh at that. He knew you were never going to let that go, and if the tables were turned, he’d probably do the same. She’s funny, he thought. He was already interested in you and the fact that you even gave him your number meant that he had a chance. And, no matter what, he was going to try.
Connor: I accept no responsibility for that evil machine your store owns. But it did get us to meet so I’m not too salty about it
You didn’t know if you should laugh or swoon over his message, so you stared at it. Is this what flirting is? you asked yourself.
You: Hey, I spend hours with that machine everyday, keep your swear words to yourself
You: But, now I’m wondering if you broke the machine on purpose that day…
Connor: I didn’t in the moment, but if I got the chance to go back, I’d definitely make sure it happened again
Connor: Do you have any free time this weekend?
Holy shit, you thought to yourself. The movie that you planned on watching that night had clearly been forgotten as you had found your way in bed, under the covers with the only light coming from your phone screen. This is really happening.
You:  Besides working Saturday morning, I’m pretty free. Why?
Connor: Do you want to have lunch on Sunday? I know this place near where I live that has the best menu I’ve ever seen
You smiled then, taking a second to scream into your pillow before responding.
You: That sounds amazing, I would love to
Making sure to be clear that you accepted, you also wanted to keep things light.
You: But, I have seen what you buy at the store so is the menu filled with only kale and string beans? I just need to know if I should eat before or not
Connor: It hurts that you think I would really take you somewhere like that
You: I just had to make sure :)
Connor: So, can I pick you up around 4 on Sunday?
You: I can actually meet you there, if that’s okay. I don’t want you to go out of you way to get me
Connor: It’s not a problem but we can meet there too
Connor: 4 works for you, though?
You: Yeah, it’s perfect
His heart clenched at that, and he was finally able to let out the breath that he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. Not only did he get your number, he got a date with you, too. He was proud of himself for finally putting in the effort with someone and something other than his hockey career.
You didn’t stop texting there, continuing to go back and forth with him for a few more hours. It felt nice, to talk to someone new after a while. Connor was still trying to figure you and your story out, but you were doing the same with him.
Since it hadn’t come up in conversation, Connor was almost certain that you didn’t recognize him from the league. Hell, he didn’t even know if you watched any sports. And, while this made it easier for him to talk to you, it also made it harder for him to come up with a way to tell you about his life that wouldn’t scare you off or make you look at him differently. He’s had too many experiences letting in the wrong people that were only after him for attention.
He could just wait until he fully trusted you to bring it up, but he had a feeling that would make you question him even more. He could tell you on your upcoming date, but that might end things before they even had a chance to get started. He didn’t know what was going to happen, but he knew he wanted to find out.
He could feel the excitement in his body as the week went by and it only intensified as it got closer to the day you were finally going out. He wasn’t nervous at first, especially since you had kept in touch everyday since he last saw you. But, when he arrived at the diner he set for you two to meet up, he couldn’t help the nervous bounce of his leg as he waited for your arrival.
He got there early, because he wanted to make sure he was there when you showed up, especially since he was the one who extended the invitation. He also was just really excited to get to talk to you in person, without someone interrupting you because they needed help in self-checkout. He was finally going to be able to talk to you, and learn about you and your life.
You, however, were a mess. When you agreed, you had forgotten how long it had been since a guy had asked you out, and even longer since you’d been on an actual date with someone that you barely even knew. You didn’t know what to wear, or how to fix your hair, or how early you should be, or even how late. You were a mess.
Since it was still chilly out, you settled on best fitting black pants, a nice casual shirt, and your favorite boots. It was simple, but then again, you were meeting at a diner in the middle of the day. You prayed you weren’t underdressed as you finished your hair and the minimal amount of make-up that you were still working on perfecting, and if you were, you couldn’t risk being overly late anyway.
You were a few minutes late walking into the diner but you spotted Connor almost immediately, seated in a booth in the far corner. Taking a deep breath, you slowly made your way to him.
“Hey,” You said, softly. Connor looked up, standing at the same time.
“Hi, I’m glad you make it,” He smiled. He pulled you in for a hug and after the initial shock, you returned it, breathing in his scent. “You look amazing.”
Happy that he couldn’t see your blush, you gave him a gentle squeeze, “Thank you, you too.”
After you separated, Connor stepped back, motioning for you to sit down. You thanked him again as you sat, taking off your coat and placing it next to you.
“I hope this place is cool with you, I usually like staying in lowkey spots,” He said as he took his place across from you.
“Usually?” You raised your eyebrows at him. “You take all your dates here?”
“I didn’t mean it like that,” He blushed, shaking his head. “I’m just not a fan of being around a ton of people and noise.”
“This place is nice,” You looked around. “I’ve never been here before so I’m kinda jealous that I didn’t know about it.”
He smiled, “Good.”
You shifted under his eyes, picking up the menu. “So, what made you finally ask for my number?”
It was a risky question to ask but after your past experiences with interested customers, you knew you had to. Although Connor had been respectful every time you saw him, that didn’t ease your fear of everything ending badly. Especially since it was the first time you actually gave your number out and didn’t regret it immediately after.
“Besides the obvious fact that you’re really beautiful,” He smiled as he looked down at his menu. “Every time we talked, you made me laugh. Which most people would say is hard to do.”
“So, I’m beautiful and funny,” You nodded, smiling slightly. “Thank you.”
He laughed, “What made you give me your number?”
You narrowed your eyes at him firing your question back at you but he just smiled again. Thinking for a second, you looked back at the menu.
“You laughed at my jokes,” You said as you glanced up at him briefly. He was still watching you as you continued, “And, you’re very easy on the eyes, I guess.”
“Fair enough,” He responded.
“Plus, you asked.” He rolled his eyes at that but you could see the smile on his lips as he took a sip of his water.
You thought about it for a second, wondering how honest you should be. “Actually, do you want my true answer?”
You felt that since you had been texting back and forth with him for a few days, the least you could do was tell him the truth. He nodded, raising his eyebrows.
“I was already hoping you would ask.”
You bit your lip nervously, but he grinned and you felt his knee nudge yours under the table. The gesture calmed your nerves a little, but your senses were all heightened by the contact.
“How do you like working at the store?” He asked after a few moments.
“It’s alright,” You shrugged. “Not the ideal and I definitely don’t plan on doing it forever but it pays.”
“Do you have plans?” He asked, and you noticed that his arms were now folded on the table over his menu. His full attention was on you, and you could feel your skin tingling.
“I’m still in school, so I’m kind of in the process of figuring that out, especially since my mind changes every month,” You responded. “What about you? What are you doing for work right now?”
“I play hockey.”
“Professional?” He nodded. “Like, the NHL?” He nodded again. “Seriously?” Again. “Huh.”
“What?” He laughed.
“You’re a professional hockey player,” You said, slowly. “Did you see where I work?”
He shrugged, “What about it?”
“Nothing,” You shrugged as well. “Nevermind.”
“I asked you out because I really wanted to get to know you. Outside of the supermarket, and without all the peering eyes.”
You smiled, “Really wanted to get to know me, huh?”
He laughed, taking a sip of his water. He still held your eye as he did so and you narrowed yours at his next clear attempt to avoid answering. “What are you studying?”
“Sociology,” You answered, laughing after.
“You must be pretty smart, then,” He replied. “Soc is pretty complicated from what I remember.”
You let out a laugh, shaking your head. “Everyone thinks so, but I wouldn’t say I’m especially smart or anything. It’s not that bad.”
“The really smart people usually don’t,” He smirked, just as the waitress walked up to your table.
“Can I start you guys with any drinks or appetizers?”
“I’m good with this water, thanks,” Connor said.
“Iced tea, please,” You smiled.
“Okay, perfect. And, are you guys ready to order or do you need another second?” You were both ready and gave her your orders. With your menus in hand, the waitress disappeared to the back.
“No alcohol on the first date?” You teased, leaning on the table.
He laughed, “Yeah, I’m watching my figure actually.”
You rolled your eyes, laughing with him.
“Where are you from?” He asked.
“Originally from Boston, moved here to Edmonton for school,” You said.
“So, you like the cold?”
“I do, actually,” You smiled. “What about you?”
You were nervous, that was a given. You had forgotten what holding eye contact with a guy could actually do to you, especially when you had no one to buffer. You worried about having something in your teeth or god forbid your nose, or suddenly making an embarrassing noise. But, when Connor basically slapped his drink off the table while talking, resulting in the loudest sound of glass hitting the floor, you couldn’t help the also loud and real laugh that came out of you at his shocked expression.
“I’m really sorry,” Connor apologized to the waitress as she appeared to sweep up the few broken pieces of glass. You tried to control your laughter as Connor’s face was now bright red.
“Don’t worry, it happens more than you think,” She laughed, standing back up straight. “I’ll be back with another water for you, no biggie.”
“Thank you,” Connor replied. “I’m sorry, again.”
Once she was gone, Connor looked back at you and you tried to hide your smile by taking a sip of your drink.
“I can’t believe you just laughed at me.”
“I’m sorry, I probably should have held it in,” You responded. “Bad first date etiquette.”
He smiled, shaking his head, “Evil.”
“You have to admit, it was funny,” You teased.
“I probably looked like a deer in headlights,” He breathed. “That was definitely the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me, especially on a fucking date.”
“Well, lucky for you, I won’t use it against you.”
The date was better than you expected it to be. Not because you both were overtly flirty or anything, but because you actually talked. You explained why you chose to move to Edmonton from Boston, what your studies meant to you, and what you hoped you could accomplish. Connor spoke about growing up in hockey, and struggling to be the player he is today. Even though the conversation was deep at times, it didn’t feel heavy or suffocating. The conversation flowed so smoothly that you forgot you were on a date at times.
While stepping out of the diner almost three hours later, you knew that whatever happened, you hoped to at least have Connor as a friend. Once you could get over the huge crush you had on him, you knew you both got along and could talk about anything. You hoped you wouldn’t have to get over your crush, though.
“I had a really nice time with you,” Connor said as you stepped back into the windy air in the parking lot.
“Me too, thank you for inviting me,” You responded, hugging your arms tighter to your body.
“Anytime,” You both reached your car, and you watched as Connor appeared to be contemplating something in his head, eyes glues to the ground.
“What are you thinking so hard about?”
He laughed at the question, his shoulders relaxing slightly, “I’m trying to find the right words to use to ask you out again but everything I’m saying in my head sounds lame.”
You knew you were blushing once again, shaking your head at him as you locked eyes. “I’ll go out with you again, but I’m picking the location this time.”
“I can live with that,” He smiled. “I’ll text you when I get home.”
“Okay,” You nodded, finally unlocking your car. “See you later.”
“Bye, Y/N.” He waited until you were safely in your car before stepping back towards his.

desc: from francis bacon to foucault, descartes to dante, your political philosophy seminar doesn’t promise to be a blowout — and yet, one mysterious stranger and a risqué evening later, your burberry-clad professor gives you the feeling it won’t be quite the snoozefest you’d expected.

"Are you sure I was included in that invite?" Y/N's voice was skeptical as she crossed the green toward Thomas's office. Apparently, Dolley and James had spent their afternoon together, taking a walk through the city. (When Dolley told Y/N that the two-mile loop near the Lincoln Memorial had taken them two hours to walk through, she had a sneaking suspicion walking wasn't all they were doing. Hopefully, they'd at least escaped the watchful eye of our oversized 16th president.)
"Yes, I'm certain you were," Dolley insisted from the other end of the phone's line. "He said it'd be great if I brought you."
"... This sounds suspiciously like a pity invite."
"It isn't a pity invite!" Y/N could hear the indignance in her voice.
"Dolley, why, exactly, would he want me there if it wasn't a pity invite?"
"... Because you're my best friend, and he's decided to make an effort to get to know you better?"
She laughed. "As much as I appreciate this idealized James Madison, I have a feeling it was more to the effect of 'I just saw your roommate and feel obligated to invite her'," Y/N corrected her. "But go to the party without me! Don't let me hold you back from having your fun, alright?"
"Please come? It wouldn't be the same without you." Dolley's voice was high, containing traces of what almost smelled like desperation. "It'll make me much more comfortable to have you along."
Y/N groaned. "So when you and James go make out in the bathroom, I'm supposed to, what, play truth or dare with all the other PhD candidates?"
"Why not?" Dolley's tone was mild, which made Y/N roll her eyes.
"No offense to James's friends, but I'm not sure I want to spend an evening making stunted small talk with them."
"You're such a warm person, though! You'd be quite alright."
"It'd be awkward!"
"Please, Y/N? I'll beg you if that's what it'll take."
She scowled at how soft, forlorn Dolley's voice had become. As far as she was concerned, this was akin to emotional manipulation. "Does it really mean that much to you?"
"Yes. I like him so much."
She sighed. "I'm gonna say yes solely because I have somewhere to be and can't deal with this argument anymore. But you owe me."
Y/N could almost picture Dolley’s sappy smile. “Thank you so much, dear. You’re too good to me.”
"Yeah, yeah, what else is new?" Her words elicited a laugh from Dolley, and Y/N continued, “But you know I’d do pretty much whatever you asked if you asked it in that I’m-about-to-cry voice, so I’m not sure this relationship is healthy for me anymore.”
“Oh, of course; I’m truly a parasite,” Dolley sighed. “Taking you in as my roommate, paying for your ramen — how evil of me.”
“I pay half the rent, and ramen costs fifty cents!” Y/N defended, but the words were lighthearted nonetheless. “Next time you give up five perfectly good hours of a Friday night so that I can get laid, we’ll call it even.”
“Don’t make any calls about Friday just yet. You haven’t even seen James’s friends.” Dolley’s voice was just teasing enough to placate Y/N. “I may not be the only one having some fun.”
“Have you even seen James’s friends?” Y/N asked dubiously, and Dolley’s silence told her all there was to know. “That’s what I thought. He’s an econ student, so it’s probably gonna be about eighty percent entitled rich men attending school on family money.”
“Or they could all be just your type,” Dolley reasoned, but by then, any efforts to talk Y/N out of her convictions were futile. “Tall, hot, and older.”
“First off, I don’t have a type, and second, just because you’re dating an ‘older man’,” — The final two words were said mockingly — “doesn’t mean that his older friends aren’t still douches.”
“I hate to have to be the one to break it to you, but that is absolutely your type.”
“Based on what?”
“That professor of yours?”
“Dolley!” Y/N scowled, turning down the volume on her call just in case some passing pedestrians were notorious gossips with super-hearing. It was certainly possible. “Can you please stop talking about him like that? Don’t make it a thing,” she murmured, jaw tense.
“Oh, we’re well past that, dear,” Dolley said matter-of-factly, and Y/N could only roll her eyes. “But if you’ve agreed to the party, I won’t push my luck.”
“Smart choice,” she muttered bitterly. “Anyway, I’ve gotta go. Talk to you later tonight?”
“Of course.”
With that, she hung up the phone before Dolley could take advantage of her giving mood and start making further outlandish demands, tucking it into her coat pocket as she pushed open the door to Melos Hall. Unfortunately for her, the elevator was broken, and Thomas's office was several flights of stairs above her.
After at least eight long pauses for her to catch her breath, heaving as she leaned against the railing in the stairwell, and three stomach cramps, Y/N knocked on his door. "Anybody home?"
"C'mon in." His voice was soft, muffled through the door, and she opened it to find him all but slumped on his desk, resting his head on his hand as he graded papers he appeared to be rather cross with, and with more of said papers covering the entirety of the desk’s surface (and much of the floor). He glanced up when she entered, and a soft grin split his expression. "Hey, I thought that was you."
"I'm in absolute awe of your pattern-recognition skills, really," she replied, tone dry as she let the door fall shut behind her, and despite the playful smile she wore, Thomas rolled his eyes.
"You actually here for anything, or am I gonna have to kick you out?"
She laughed. "I'm not here to derail your work, I swear." He raised a dubious eyebrow. "I was just stopping by to let you know that, assuming it's still on the table, I'd love the TA position."
"Oh, yeah?" His smile widened almost imperceptibly at her words, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "'M glad to hear it. Could've just shot me an email, though."
She shrugged. "I was headed this way anyway. Figured I may as well stop by."
"I'm not complainin'." She let out a soft huff of laughter at the words, but she could feel heat beginning to creep up the back of her neck. "'S good timing, anyway. Intro to IR just turned in an essay on Kant."
The soft groan she let out only served to amuse him further as she surveyed the wreckage of his office. "That's what all this paper is?" He nodded in confirmation, and she scrunched up her nose. "I'm not sure if I feel worse for the freshmen who had to write them or for you having to read them."
"Well, I should hope it's the freshmen," he said matter-of-factly, sitting back in his chair. The smile he wore was concerningly self-righteous. "'Cause, now, readin' these is your job, too."
Her eyebrows shot up; the dread in her gaze was the furthest thing from contrived. "... Is it too late to rescind my application as a TA?"
He shook his head. "Mm-mm. You're welcome to abandon ship."
She didn't like the satisfaction which grew in his gaze as she weighed her options; they both knew she wasn't considering turning down the position in earnest — that simple fact left Thomas unnecessarily smug. Another beat passed, and she sighed. "You're lucky this is going to look good on my grad school applications."
He laughed. "Sure am. I could use all the help I can get, right now."
"I can see that," she replied, voice laden with amusement at the state of his office.
However, Thomas said nothing more, and she shifted on her feet, uncomfortable with the drawn-out silence. He raised an expectant eyebrow, and it took her a moment to grasp his intention. "Wait... d'you mean, like, right now?"
"Unless you're busy." He shrugged. His gaze was hopeful as she eyed warily the small stack of papers she'd spent the past few minutes trying not to crush under her boot. She sighed.
He grinned when she bent over to pick up the papers that'd floated to her side of the desk. "As depressing as it feels to say, I've got nowhere else to be on this fine Friday night."
"That's the spirit." He winked, and though she rolled her eyes, her amused smile was deep-set. "So, you're gradin' for accuracy and watchin' out for grammar, of course, but the points are really earned for analysis. The paper's on changes in the international system. They’ve gotta connect ‘em back to Kant's maxims."
She let out a low whistle as she took a seat across from him, plucking a red pen from his cup and dropping her bag onto the floor. "That certainly sounds pretentious."
He laughed lightly. "You really tellin' me you didn't have to do anything like this as a freshman?"
"Oh, I wish I could say that, but unfortunately, my professor was apparently every bit the pseudointellectual you are.” She nodded sadly, and Thomas rolled his eyes.
"Hilarious, sweetheart, really." In the dry sarcasm of his tone, the casual pet name didn't seem to register with him, but Y/N couldn't help but notice, and her breath caught. "Here, lemme get you a copy of the rubric. 'S nothin' too complicated; go easy on 'em. Got some STEM majors in the class who're just takin' it for the graduation requirement, so I'm not expectin' much."
She pursed her lips. "Are the essays that bad?"
He deadpanned as he turned back to her, sliding the rubric across the desk. "At least as bad as I'm makin' 'em sound."
Y/N let out a long, dramatic huff, rubbing her temples, and Thomas looked thoroughly entertained at her reaction.
"I'm in for a long few months, aren't I?"

prom-ises [l.minho]
⇾ pairing : lee minho x reader
⇾ summary : you might have forgotten about prom, but never your promise to minho
⇾ wc : 1.6k
⇾ genre/warnings : high school!au,friends to lovers!au | mild swearing
Tumblr media
You know you had it bad for him.
There was a saying that goes; a boy and a girl can’t always stay as friends, one is bound to fall in love with the other with time. You could say for yourself that you were an avid believer of that principle, till a certain doe-eyed dancer came along and blurred the lines between platonic and romantic.
Truth be told, you both weren’t the classic cute duo that went from childhood best friends to lovers,it was more of a ‘vexed president and vice-president shit-talking the lazy dance club members who never attends practices’ to ‘I call you at three because I’m hungry and lonely’ kind of relationship. You wanted way more than this with him,but you would take the weird dynamic you both have over nothing at all.
You weren’t an idiot to take risks like that, but you were an idiot that kept going back for more.Every moment spent was like a teaser for an upcoming release of your favourite group’s new song;it showcased a little of what it was like to date him, only to wake up from the fantasy that he was never yours to begin with.
You just didn’t have the willpower to say no to his face, which was exactly why Minho dragged you out of your dorm at 8AM to have breakfast with him because he didn’t like to eat alone, and you went with it.
Eyes concentrated on him, your irises glittered with amusement and slight annoyance as he scanned the males in the cafe to spot a potential partner for you, claiming that you were antisocial and should have been dating at this age already.Your conversations somehow always end up on the topic of your love life, and never his.He pulled this stunt plenty a times and to be honest, you were getting sick of it.
“Minho, just eat your food.”You sighed, chewing half-halfheartedly on the greasy meat you wished you never bought.Kudos to him for craving fast food first thing in the morning.
It was a painful dig at your heart, watching the boy you like trying to set you up with a stranger.A clear sign shown that he has no interest in you in that way, yes, but your mind never wanted to cooperate and still held on to the fraying strands of hope that you two might be something someday.
He pointed at a guy not much older than both of you,or maybe even the same age as you,who was lining up at the counter--presumably getting coffee like any normal person would(not you and Minho, there’s that).Minho waggled the fry around, and grinned triumphantly at you. “What about him?”
“Stop it,”You scoffed, rolling your eyes playfully at the snickering male in front of you.He took a huge bite of his burger which was in his other hand, then continued to tease you with his mouth full.
“I think you'll look cute with him.Isn't those boys exactly your type?”Minho mused, eyes sparkling with mischief and something else you could not quite catch. “Handsome, muscular, badass looking, all macho and shit.”He muttered,a light contempt in his tone at the mention of the said boy. There was a disdainful look as Minho eyed him,jaw slacking and he stopped chewing altogether.
Baffled by his comment, you snorted in disbelief at the crap he just spewed out.
Was he really that blind?
As much as you could remember with your memory of a tea-spoon,you recalled rather clearly that you’ve never once mentioned what type of boys you were into. And even if you did,you were positive you wouldn’t ever tell Minho.Never ever.
Minho smiled at you,confused.
“Why are you laughing?”He pushed at your shoulder softly,a small grin extending over his face.
You shook your head, fingers wrapping around the red plastic straw of your soda.Sipping on the iced Pepsi, you cringe slightly at the taste of it,diluted with melted ice.Which reminded you that Minho and you had been in that cafe for quite some time now.
Unsurprisingly, your table was still filled with food, considering the fact that you both had ordered way too much. There were still a few packets of fries and wedges with way too much cheese sauce(Minho claimed that but you argued, saying that there was no such thing as too much cheese sauce),plus three pieces of fried chicken. You grabbed a fry off his tray, while he swatted away your hand.
“Don't steal my food.”He whined, swallowing the remnants that he was chewing. “Tell me,why were you laughing?”
You sniggered, “Whoever told you that I like 'tall, muscular, badass looking, all macho and shit' boys?I don't remember telling you.”You added, raising your eyebrows questioningly at Minho.
You watched how he dipped his head down meekly, his plump lips quirking up from your remark as he struggled for an answer. His chestnut strands fell perfectly into his eyes, languid fingers moving to brush them back.Trying to take no notice of the familiar fluttering in your stomach whenever you're with him,you took another sip of the tasteless Pepsi, hoping that the bleach-like flavour was enough to still the wild thrums of your chest.
“I just thought so…”Minho replied after a while. He fiddled with the burger wrapper, tearing it into small strips. “Anyways, are you ready for our finals?”He breathed out quickly, his round eyes meeting yours. He was trying to change the subject and you knew.Still you let him off the hook.
Your palms started to sweat, and you cursed the morning sun. No,it wasn’t because of the devilishly attractive male in front of you,it’s definitely the sun.
Clearing your throat, your lips parted to speak but was cut off by another presence at your table. It was the same boy that was going to order at the counter just now,the exact one that Minho had said you would look good with.
To be completely honest, you don't see the ‘badass’ and the ‘macho’ in him, though he was handsome by your standards. It was just that he looked edgy and soft at the same time,an interesting combination but the total opposite of the person Minho was describing as your apparent ideal type.
“Hey,this seat isn't taken is it?”He asked softly, grinning politely at the both of you.Minho scowled a little, but still attempted a friendly smile. You shook your head and moved your backpack to another chair, gesturing for him to take the seat.
“I'm Changbin.”He introduced, sensing the heavy atmosphere. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat and continued to speak. “I study in the same school as you guys.”
“Interestingly,I’ve never seen you before.Or maybe you're just not well known enough.”Minho mumbled, answering before you could say anything. “Very very pleased to meet you I must say.Honoured too.”
“Yup,”You quipped awkwardly.
“I'm just gonna be honest about why I came over,”Changbin said quickly, and far too loudly in a panicky tone. You noticed him glancing every now and then at the door, and so out of curiosity you turned to look. You spotted several boys outside cafe waving enthusiastically, and cheering silently at the valiant soldier.
Minho followed your line of sight and scoffed quietly. “Got your personal cheerleaders too I see.”He remarked snarkily, folding his arms across his chest.
“Minho,”You hissed as a warning for him to stop his childish tantrums and motioned for the oddly quiet Changbin to continue, feeling bad for him. “I'm sorry,we got a little distracted.”
He waved it off. “Uhm,maybe if you could possibly agree. If you can,I would really like it if you could be my partner for prom.No pressure though, just a suggestion.”He rambled, scratching the nape of his neck, struggling to look you in the eye.
“A suggestion?I don’t like the suggestion-”
Your eyebrows furrowed slightly, turning to Minho for confirmation. “There's prom?”You asked, genuine confusion written all over your face.
Minho gave you an incredulous look and shrugged. “If he asked, there must be.”He said nonchalantly, munching on a piece of chicken now. “It's after the finals.”He sighed bitterly when he noted your still confused face.
You turned back to face Changbin,a small apologetic smile gracing your lips. “I'm sorry again.I didn't know there was prom,”He just nodded, hands curling around his belt loops and anticipating your answer.
“I think I'm going with someone else already.Thank you for asking.”You said, scanning Minho’s tensed figure.Changbin's face fell in disappointment but he managed a soft 'it's okay, all the best for finals' before he grabbing the lukewarm cup and shot out of the place.
Eyes trailing after his slumped figure, you saw his friends patting him on the back and trying to cheer him up.Sure, you felt guilty of ripping the hopeful smile off his face, but you just wanted to be selfish for once.Changbin was a nice boy,he deserved far better than you.Someone that actually likes him back maybe.
“Didn't know you have a person in mind that quickly.”Minho stated, not meeting your eyes. His tongue tasted sour and he refused to meet your eyes. You pursed up your lips and stared at him in frustration.
“Idiot, you don't remember that time I promised to go to prom with you,if our school ever organised one?”You reminded, seeing his face lit up with realisation."This is me keeping my promise."
“That was so long ago,”He said. “I didn't think you would actually remember it.”He laughed, relief clouding his face.
“Just make sure you remember to pick me up for prom then.”
The silence that befell was not just comfortable,it was a soundproof blanket to smother the bouncing knees and throbbing veins in your throats.
Maybe the last filament of your tattered faith was stronger than you think.

Fifty Shades of Mikaelson
Shade 1
Tumblr media
Authors Note: So here is the first installment of a mulit chapter series, I posted a teaser chapter last year and after a lot of work and editing here is the first chapter. This will be a slow burn series but I hope you will stick with it. Word Count: 2953 Pairing: ???Mikaelson x Reader Insert (Slow Burn) Warnings: Implied sexual humor. Richmond Virginia is the home to Mikaelson Enterprises, one of the largest companies in the US to date, with countless connections across the country and the world. After receiving the company from the untimely death of their parents and younger brother Henrik the six remaining siblings all took a share and equal role within the company.
The loss of their parents and younger brother was hard on the remaining family and became so tough on Freya and Finn that they ultimately took a step back from public eye of the company and became silent partners, this allowed Elijah, Niklaus, Kol and Rebekah to have a free rein on the company so to speak. What made Mikaelson Enterprises different to all the others was the fact that it didn’t have one sole purpose.
The company originally thrived at investing low market sales. Rather than take the risk and invest in the higher term stock markets each sibling took to different sectors and reaped the rewards of their own doing which allowed them endeavour into other opportunities. Each sibling was different, Rebekah stuck to fashion. Her aim was that she wanted people to look great whilst not breaking the bank and so she worked with a large team of designers to manufacture a line of clothing that was stylish while being at affordable prices. Kol and Niklaus went into business together to create the bourbon of bourbons, wanting to create a new brand and enjoying the odd glass or two led them to a likely partnership. Elijah was different compared to his other siblings rather than go out into the world and create a new product he used his studies and degree and built a highly respectable law firm. And each separate business venture was all under the same roof in the tallest building in the city.
Springtime in Richmond was often cold and or wet, and as I watched from my large bedroom window the weekend hustle and bustle of those wanting to get to work on time hurried in large packs and then would disperse quickly into different buildings. I padded barefoot through my large apartment, still half asleep, yawning and stretching relying on my auto-poilet function to get me to my kitchen so I could sort myself out with a cup of coffee and some much needed breakfast. Scratching my scalp with my nails I waited for the kettle to boil when I heard my laptop ping with an email. Groaning that I had emails to read on my day off, I ignored them whilst I carried on waiting for the water to boil but then the glorious chime of the skype ringtone filled my ears and I begrudgingly went over to my desk and answered the call.
“You’ve got some explaining to do love.” Klaus said, as I clicked on accept.
“I'll take your late night business meeting went well.” I teased back wiggling my eyebrows, carrying my laptop to my kitchen island.
“Why didn’t you tell me Caroline was the representative for the Salvatore’s?”
“I didn’t want you to have...performance issues.” I replied with a higher tone of voice whilst also swinging my hips as my back was to the camera while I continued to fix up my daily dose of caffeine.
“You can do better…” Klaus deadpanned sounding un-amused.
“Is that what Caroline said, aww champ.” I said as I turned back around to the camera with a mug in hand sipping away at the hot liquid.
“I need you in the office today.” He said changing the subject.
“You know I don’t work Saturday’s.” I replied, leaning back against the kitchen cupboards taking another sip of coffee.
“Kol needs a new assistant…”
“And that is my problem how?” I sassed back.
“Unless you want the extra workload? I suggest you find somebody.” Klaus said smugly as he raised his eyebrow.
I leaned towards the camera slightly. “I mean the extra money would be nice but it doesn’t quite fit in with my schedule, but who in their right mind is going to put up with your brother? Come on how am I meant to pitch this? By the way the guy you're going to be working for is arrogant and so self absorbed not to mention he thinks he’s the hottest and smartest guy in the room.” I ranted sarcastically.
“I’ll see you within the hour Y/N.” He said bluntly and he ended the call.
Letting out a huff I closed the laptop lid in a swift motion and lent back on the kitchen cabinets and took my time drinking my coffee. I glanced up at the clock, I saw I had about forty five minutes to get into work, which meant an hour give or take. Putting my now quarter empty coffee cup in the sink I headed over to my bedroom and picked out some clothes to wear. Selecting a form hugging, white knee length dress with a thin black belt, I then moved into my on-suite bathroom and jumped in the shower.
As I entered the building to my workplace I did my usual rounds of saying my good mornings and made my way to the elevator. Standing patiently I waited for the metal doors to open and it made me think back to my very first day at the offices working for Niklaus or Klaus as he liked to be called. I was fresh out of college and had my tuition debt looming over my head and as I read through the job adverts in the daily paper I saw that there was a position at the esteemed Mikaelson Enterprises, hearing that it was good money I applied for it and I had been working happily here for the past two and a half years.
Strolling through into Klaus’ office he looked un-amused just like he was in the video call earlier.
“You're late…” He scolded.
“I told you I don’t work Saturday’s.” I sassed back.
“Do you want to find yourself unemployed?” He threatened.
“Oh please you couldn’t even last a day without me, I know you better than you know yourself. Tell me again who is it that sends out Christmas cards to the shareholders? Or handles organizing all of your meetings?” I replied, rolling my eyes at his lame threat.
“Organizing meetings are a part of your job Y/N.”
“Ahhh Y/N there you are darling, here is the list of candidates you asked for.” Kol interrupted, walking into Klaus’ office interrupting mine and his bickering and the younger Mikaelson hands me a stack of files.
Taken aback by the weight of the files, I gave him a sarcastic smile. “I did?” I asked, gritting my teeth sending my boss daggers with my eyes.
“Brother would you like to join me for a drink? The distillery has a new batch they would like us to try.” Kol asked.
“Would love to, I’ll catch up in a few moments just have a few things to sort out here before we leave.” Klaus replies and with that Kol says his goodbyes and leaves the office.
“Really? You're calling me into work so you can play hooky?” I questioned, gesturing with my free hand.
“Duty calls. If it makes you feel better you can work here.” Klaus says with a smile and gets up from his desk and grabs his leather jacket and heads for the door.
“Would you also schedule a meeting with Marcel?” He asked as he turned slightly facing me.
“Sure, how does the 10th of kiss my ass sound?” I deadpanned, rolling my eyes.
“Perfect love, I’ll see you later.”
Klaus left his office and I let out another huff, so much for spending my Saturday at home binge watching TV whilst having a face mask on and eating a tub of ice cream, hanging up my woolen coat on the coat stand I placed the files on his desk. Slumping back against the leather office chair I reached out for the phone and slotted it under my ear and shoulder as I dialed the number for Marcel’s office while I looked at the first résumé.
“Hello Gerard Corporation, Davina speaking.”
“Hey Davina, it's Y/N.” I replied whilst scanning down the document.
“Hi, Y/N! What can I do for you?” Davina asked in a chirpy tone.
“Can I book Klaus in to see Marcel next week? I did say it’ll be the 10th of kiss my ass but if that doesn’t work how does the 6th?” I asked her, spinning in the chair.
I heard a chuckle down the line. “I have no idea how you can get away with talking to your boss like that!”
“Takes practice, don't worry though in a year or two you’ll be speaking to Marcel exactly the same way.”
“I doubt it, but you're in luck Marcel is free on the 10th. I’ll email you a confirmation this afternoon. But why are you working today? I didn’t think you worked on a Saturday?”
“Yeah so did I. Klaus called this morning saying that Kol needs a new assistant and that unless I want the extra workload to find someone suitable.” I replied with a grumble.
“Oh dear. Have you found anyone yet?” She asked.
“Well so far I’m on the first one but listen to this.”
“Ok.”
“I’m hardworking, loyal to a fault and will complete any task given to me to the best of my ability.” I said in a completely different accent and all I could hear from the other line was Davina laughing.
“Kol is...a difficult person anybody sweet and nice would just crumble under him.”
“Tell me about it, well here's to hoping I can find someone in this stack who can stick it to him. I best get back to work but fancy going for a drink on Friday night?”
“Sure thing, let me know how it goes. Speak to you later Y/N.”
“Bye D.” I said as I put the phone down and got back to looking at the applicants.
Taking another of the résumés I left the office and headed to the break-room to fix myself another hot drink. As I was leaning over the counter waiting for the coffee maker I heard a clearing of the throat.
“Nice to see your putting in the extra hours Y/N. Niklaus seems to have taken the hint about getting you to work one weekend a month.” Elijah says.
Slapping the document on the counter I span around. “Do you really have to make me sound so cheap Elijah?” I teased feigning that he hurt my feelings.
“Deepest apologies Y/N, you are looking lovely today might I add.” Elijah says.
“Why thank you, what brings you to this floor?” I asked him, fluttering my eyelashes.
“I was hoping to see Niklaus, is he available?”
“Wasted your time I’m afraid, he’s playing hooky with your brother down at the distillery. No idea what time he will be back. But I can call you once he gets back into the office?” I suggested, picking up the cup and slid the résumé under my arm.
“That would be rather helpful, thank you. I couldn’t help but also notice that some of my brothers' employees were looking a little frazzled. Perhaps you could aid them?” Elijah said back.
“I’m a secretary Elijah, I’m not running a day-care when your brother goes out.” I replied pulling a face, rolling my eyes and walked past him leaving him alone.
As I walked through the office back to Klaus’ office one of his employees called Joshua collared me. “Miss Y/N the fax machine isn’t working.” He uttered stumbling over his words.
“Joshua darling, did they not teach anything at college? Here hold this.” I started, handing him my coffee cup and file and went to the fax machine to which was surrounded by a few other members of staff.
“Listen up children.” I called out.
“Bessie has done her service over the years you just need to know how to deal with her.” I added as I lifted up a flip, kicked the bottom drawer and pulled out the paper that had jammed.
“Thank you.” I said quickly taking my cup and file and made a rather sharp getaway and back into the safety of Klaus’ office.
I spent the remaining part of the afternoon going through the remanding résumés and to be honest out of the thirty I had read none of them stood out to me, the majority of the applicants were female and seemed ‘too nice’ and I didn’t think they would stand a chance, what male applicants were there also didn’t seem to be packing much in the spunk department. Looking at the clock on the wall I noticed that it was three-thirty and I was seriously hoping that Klaus and Kol would be making their way back to the office soon so I could go home. When I had an idea. Picking up the receiver on the phone I dialed a number to which I hoped would be the savior I needed.
“Hello.”
“Cami? Hey It’s Y/NN how are you? Just a quick one, are you still looking for another job?” I asked, twirling the wire around my forefinger.
“Y/NN, I’m good thanks and yeah I am. Why do you know of somewhere?” She asked me back.
“How do you feel working at the same building I work at? My boss's brother Kol, he’s looking for a new assistant. I will warm you though, he may be hot but he can be an ass.” I told her with a chuckle.
“Honestly I’ll take what I can get, the hours at the bar are getting fewer and fewer.”
“Pop down to the office on Monday. I’ll schedule an appointment so you can meet him and get a feel for the place.”
“Alright I’ll do just that, thank you so much Y/NN.”
“No worries Cami glad I could help.”
Ending the call and putting the phone back, the door to the office swung open and Kol and Klaus stumbled in, while Klaus propped himself up by holding onto the back of the sofa, Kol crash landed onto it.
Raising an eyebrow. “I take it the tasting at the distillery went well?”
“That it did love.” Klaus slurred back.
“Did you find me a new assistant? Y/N” Kol asked me, shifting his position on the sofa.
“I did, I’ve set up an appointment on Monday so you can meet her. If she is too your liking she can start as soon as.” I replied back to him, moving to another part of the room that had a jug of water, pouring it into two glasses. I handed one to each of the boys.
Klaus and Kol looked at me and then at the glass of water in their hand, letting out a sigh I made a drink up motion with my hands.
“Elijah was also looking for you earlier, I did tell him I would contact him when you got back to office however I don’t think now is a good time. And that is also me done for the day thank you very much.” I added and collected my things and left the office.
Walking into my apartment I was exhausted, dumping my handbag and coat on the sofa I stripped off and turned the shower on. Standing underneath the water flow I enjoyed having the hot water fall onto and down my body as I felt the day drain away from me.
Monday came and I was back in the office like normal and already typing away at my desk which was located just outside Klaus’ office. I was in the process of sorting through some of the stray bits of paperwork that was scattered on my desk when the familiar notification came through. Glancing at the screen I let out a scoff, Klaus wanted to see me in his office. Pulling out the USB drive that was in my computer and strutted into the room.
“His lordship wishes to see me.” I teased, mocking a curtsy.
“Did you type up the transcript from the Salvatore meeting?” He asked bluntly.
“Yes it’s all on here but you also have paper copies in the bottom drawer in your desk, you have a meeting in twenty minutes with Marcel and I also made a reservation at that fancy restaurant for you and Caroline at eight.” I replied, motioning to the USB stick in my hand when I mentioned it.
“What would I do without you love?”
“Probably you wouldn’t survive at all, but is it really a good idea to be seeing Caroline outside of business negotiations?” I asked him.
“You see love that when people have too much to drink they let details slip. All you have to do is ask questions. But would you be a sweetheart and pick up my suit from the dry cleaners?” Klaus replies smugly.
“If you say so, but in my opinion playing Caroline like the way your aiming is just a dick move. And what did your last slave die of?” I told him bluntly.
“Love I’m not playing your friend. I’m playing the odds so I can win the bothersome game between us and Salvatore’s just remember who you get your paychecks from, and we ‘evil villains’ have minions such as yourself to go and pick up dry cleaning. Now if you don’t mind.”
“Yeah, yeah I get it. Just if you do you know find yourself in a compromising position later tonight make sure you wrap it before you tap it.” I sassed, winking at him and left the office.

With a loud thud, the door is shoved open. You whimper when his lips connect to yours again, hands running up and down your sides and over the exposed skin of your thighs. The kiss is much like a fight in it’s intensity, pushing and pulling with the waves of heat that wash over you. You reach up to tangle your fingers in his hair, and open his mouth with yours. Wet behind the hardness of teeth. Tongues meet roughly, as he walks you further into the room, gripping your hips tight. The door is kicked shut behind the two of you, before he moves his soft lips to your jaw. You moan, and cock your head back to give him access.
Deep breaths brush over your skin, cooling you from the burning sensation of the party downstairs. His hands slide around to grab your ass and lift you to his body, not letting his lips leave your skin. Trembling, in anticipation and the knowledge what is to come next, unforgiving. You wrap your legs around his waist as he walks you to the bed, heart hammering against your rib cage. The alcohol traveling through your veins only makes everything more intense, his tongue and teeth on your sensitive neck heavenly. “Please,” you beg, peeking your tongue out to wet your lips.
Getting to the bed, he eagerly lays you down on the bed and crawls on top of you, strong thighs both sides of yours. The weight of his body pins you onto the bed. You think you could resemble one of those butterflies on a board, ready to be cherished in his gaze. It’s strange, because you’ve never much wanted to be cherished by anyone but yourself. In the darkness of the room, in the shrouding of the moonlight against the blue curtain his gaze holds a velveteen.
When you let go of your tight grip on his hair and shoulders, he looks up at you with a slight smile. “Please what,” Baron mumbles, before connecting his lips back to your slim neck to litter it with purple spots. As he bites down, you hiss, and arch your body to brush his. You ache to bring him closer, yet don’t dare to pull too hard at the same time. His one hand is next to your body to keep himself from crushing you, the other gently sliding your top upwards.
“Please, have me already,” you whimper, staring him down as he straightens up on top of you. Baron’s eyes are glazed over with darkness, lips bright red and cheeks flushed. His hair is messy from where your hands tangled into it, and you have to stop and stare for a second, much like he is. He takes a deep breath and slides you a bit further into the bed, his hands squeezing your thighs eagerly, sending you up into an fire of eager sparks.
He smiles though, and licks his lips. “I really want to take you out,” he admits, fingers traveling the expanse of your skin, “I think this might be sending the wrong image. I mean, I really like you and-” Before you can let all this terrify you, you grab him by his collar and pull him back to you, his body back to yours where it seems to belong. With his face only an inch away from yours, you reach up to hold his face in your hands and kiss him.
“I don’t-” you kiss him again when he so earnestly looks at you, fingers digging into your skin and creating red marks, “I can’t date you.” Baron pauses, his chest meeting yours every time he breathes. When he opens his mouth to answer, your lips brush his. “I’m not a dating kind of girl,” you just say, “I’m not good at it.” The frown that falls over his face isn’t one of offence, merely confusion— well placed. Your hands skim up his sides to grab a steady hold on his shoulders, nails digging in there to steady yourself. “Just- please, please have me.”
The man on top of you hesitates to look into your eyes, while your body heats up under his, strong shapes against your softer ones. When he comes back to kiss you, it’s him who grunts now, aching with the mirage of your touches. “Are you sure?” he asks, closing his eyes as his hands slide up under your shirt. When you reach up, you move his hands higher to feel you through your bra. You wonder if he can feel your heartbeat this close. Your legs twitch when they wrap around him and pull him into you. “Y/N, are you sure?” he repeats when you don’t answer.
Something about his tone is more than questioning, not like a scold but just as impactful. You wonder for a second why you feel this way, why you feel the need to keep him in limbo far between being yours and not at all. But realistically— you know where a fear stems and it has blossomed into a tree stronger than your determination itself. So when you nod, you mean it, far more than you wish you did. It’s terrifying, lying here with someone who so openly admits his care for you and while you can’t mirror it, you still feel the warmth of his words. So you nod.
“Yes.” You run your hand up to tangle it in the hair at the back of his head. His other hand creeps up the inside of your thigh to slide your skirt up, and you whimper. “I can’t be your girlfriend,” you confirm, truthful more than you like to be, “but I’ll be yours in any other way that you want to have me. Love isn’t for me, baby.” He chuckles softly against your skin as he presses kisses to your collarbone, before shaking his head.
“You’re really not making this easy on me, shortie.” He presses another kiss to your lips, before sighing.
You melt at the gesture, practically seeing the fight on his features and you can see him losing— no matter how good he is, temptation is always hard to shake. “What’s fun about having it easy, though?” you say, smiling wide.
“Guess you’re right,” he laughs at your grin, before pulling your top over your head as you lift your back for him. His one hand slips under your body to open your bra, as he bites down on his bottom lip. “But let me treat you though. That’s the least you can do after turning me down so harshly.” Your bra is tossed to the floor, lights glistening in his eyes as he looks at you in what you hope is a look of awe.
You chuckle, and pull him even closer with your legs, flush against your body. “You’re literally in between my legs right now, Baron.”
“I know, but I wanted to date you properly.”
“No can do.” You press a kiss to the corner of his lips when he smiles, and start pulling his shirt up over his broad back. “But I promise that I’ll treat you double next time though.”
Tumblr media
It’s cold, and he’s drunk. No— shitfaced, this early morning, if he’s being honest he’s completely gone. It’s not easy to get this far, his body more than used to the alcohol and yet he sways uncontrollably as he walks. Chanyeol in his shitfaced state, thought it a good idea to go find his car further down the road. His friends in their shitfaced state thought it a good idea to let him. It’s not that far a walk from the garage, where everyone of Exo Customs decided to meet after a high school reunion earlier in the day, so normally he’d be fine.
But today has been hard, and so now that he’s emptied his bottle as he walks he starts to feel too much. Though his body is burning, his fingertips are cold, just like his mood. Reunions are never much fun, but having to explain that he’s not dating anyone anymore over and over drilled his attitude through the floor. Chanyeol stares at the dark brown bottle in his hand as he walks, before throwing it against the wall across the street with a loud ‘Fuck!’ As much as he’s over the pain, he’s not yet over the memories, and today was littered with them.
The glass shatters fall onto the floor, but Chanyeol keeps walking, suddenly more than ready to get home and shut the door behind him. Every single person seemed to ask about his girlfriend, even people who he hasn’t seen in almost eight years and who barely knew him in high school. He doesn’t really care how they found out about it, rumors have always traveled faster than anyone can try and stop them. But if they’re curious enough to find out that he was dating, Park Chanyeol— one of the womanizers in school, can’t they figure out themselves that they broke up long ago.
Well- broke up sounds a lot better than how it really happened. He wishes they just would have broken up, then maybe he wouldn’t run from his problems like they are infectious diseases. Maybe he’d still be happy. As he walks, the streets sway under his feet. He makes it to the street behind the garage without much problems, but stops to stare as two figures move across the street. They are next to his car, his baby, and so a deep frown makes it’s way onto his face. One of the men notices him as he walks closer, eyes widening slightly.
“What the fuck are you doing to my car?” the tallest mumbles, words messy. Chanyeol stands close, looking down on the two men but just barely. Both are very tall as well. The brunet who turned to him first holds up his hands as a defense, and shrugs.
“We just saw it is all. It’s a nice model.” He grabs his friends’ shoulder to pull him away from the big, black vehicle as if to prove their innocence, but Chanyeol scowls at them both.
“You just happened to be standing next to my car at 4 in the morning for fun.” Right as he wants to tell them both to fuck off before things get out of hand, he catches eye with the second figure. The brown haired guy isn’t a familiar face, of that much he is sure even in his hazy state. But the blond behind him definitely is. As he racks his brain for the solution, the other seems to notice his intense stare. His eyes widen in response.
Chanyeol takes a step closer and grabs hold of his arm before he can speak, something a sober mind would realize isn’t a good idea but he’s too mad at the invasion of his space to care. The same surprised look that came over his face when he was discovered the first time. “You’re the guy messing with our fucking garage the other day,” he spits, shoving the blond away from his car harshly. Yoonoh. “You know, I was gonna let it be, let you be—” he points at the younger, before grabbing at his arm, “but no one messes with my fucking car.”
“Get your hands off me,” the other rasps, glaring at him like he has nothing to be sorry for. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The brunet seems to give his friend a questioning glance, but doesn’t cut into conversation and so Chanyeol grabs the blond by the collar. “You don’t wanna fight me. Bet you’re always staring fights but not finishing them.” Yoonoh’s hands are on his shoulders, triumphant smile on his face and though Chanyeol’s outnumbered, he knows he can take them both.
“You bet wrong,” Chanyeol mumbles, before swinging his arm towards the guy’s face. It connects just as soon as he’s being pulled away from the younger. A fist slams into his stomach, knocking the air out of him. The brown haired man comes to stand in front of his friend, but he doesn’t seem ready to give up the fight. “Two against one?” Chanyeol licks his lip as he takes a wobbly step back, blinking twice.
Yoonoh shrugs. “You started it.” He charges towards him. Chanyeol catches his fist mid-swing and lays another punch onto the other’s face, full force. The other’s free hand clashes with his jaw, sending a dizziness through him that he can’t shake. Instead he just blindly punches again, connecting once in his face and once on his neck, sending him back. The brunet grabs hold of Chanyeol’s shoulder to punch him in the stomach again and in the face, before he can push him off. Both men stumble for a second, before the brunet shakes his head and pulls his friend up.
“Yoonoh, it’s not worth it. Come on.” The other, though the flames don’t leave his eyes, spits on the floor before he is pulled away by his friend down the street. As soon as they’re gone, Chanyeol sighs deeply and blinks his eyes to get rid of the black dots in his vision. He leans onto the hood of his car in an attempt to shake the wavy nature of the world around him, but it doesn’t let up. Maybe getting socked in the face after drinking your body mass in alcohol isn’t the best thing to do. He spits out some of the irony taste onto the sidewalk, and shakes his head.

You’re awfully busy this afternoon, compared to the days before where you had to hope that one person would stop by. You don’t blame people though, it’s boiling out and though you’d love to spend the day at the beach with your friends, responsibility calls. You seem to have racked up some steady customers by now, people who return every day to try out all the new flavors. Today’s masterpiece is raspberry-cheesecake, and it’s probably the best ice-cream flavor you’ve ever made. You’re almost out. You glance over at the new batch your making once more, making sure it doesn’t freeze entirely.
“Hey, sugar!” a voice calls from behind. You smile before you turn, recognizing the lithe voice from a mile away. As you turn, sure enough, Byun stands with a shit-eating grin in front of the display, already waving his ten dollar bills around like a fan against the heat. He’s become one of your returning customers, for whatever reason you most definitely don’t want to know. He’s annoyingly charming, and funny on top of that, always ready to make you laugh even if it’s at his own expense.
“I need five cups with two scoops of that,” he points at the newest flavour, “the cheesecake. Gonna treat the poor suckers in the garage for once, they all look like they’re five seconds away from melting.” He sends you a smile to match your own, as you nod.
“It’s good, right? I’ve had to make a whole new batch because people like it so much. Yuna almost lost her shit when I called her earlier.” You scoop the last of the metal tin into a cup and then pull it out of the display to put it with the other dishes, heading for the full tin.
“Wait, you know how to swear?” the man asks, raising his both eyebrows high as he grins, only laughing at the glare you send him from across the room. If there’s one thing you’ve learned about the dark haired man in front of you, is that he’s thrives when teasing others. He’s been by the shop so many times now that you’ve gotten used to it, and just continue your task of scooping the ice cream into cups. When you don’t respond, Baekhyun looks over your shoulder into the small store. “Where is your boyfriend, anyway?”
“I don’t know,” you mumble with a smile, not looking up from your work, “where is yours?” When you flash him a glance from under your lashes, you can see that he’s holding in his laugh, and shakes his head. You finish his order off by putting plastic lids on every cup, and putting them into a bag along with the small spoons. “There, that’s $14,96 please.” Byun is the only name he’s introduced himself as, and though you doubt that is his real name, you don’t have much of a choice. He pays and leaves quickly after that, leaving you to your thoughts.
Though you’ve had many familiar faces come by, there’s one person that hasn’t showed himself since last week, and though you hate to admit it you’ve grown slightly worried. It was all fun and games, but what if Chanyeol really didn’t want his name to be known? Maybe you were too invasive, trying to figure it out on your own, and now you won’t get to see him again. You sigh, and rest your chin in your hand on top of the glass display.
Almost comical with the timing, his familiar shape comes walking from around the corner. His overalls are once again tied around his waist, top half only covered by a black shirt with the sleeves cut off. Chanyeol’s tattoos are in a perfect contrast with the warmth of his skin, and the brightness of his icy hair. When he looks up to meet your eyes, he scowls, something you’ve gotten so used to by now that it only makes you smile. But as you stare at him moving closer, you hesitate.
On his cheekbone and along his eye socket bloom flowers of bright, bruised colors. They are purple, red and yellow and look really painful. Chanyeol looks away before you can say anything, and pulls open the door next to your own. “Chanyeol, wait!” you shout, startling him and yourself at the urgency with which the words fly out.
You drop your spoon into the bucket and rush over to the door, yanking it open into the tiny hall and over to the front door. When you open it, the heat of the afternoon hits your face, making it feel flushed. Chanyeol is still standing with his arm holding open the door, luckily not making you chase him. For the first time since you got here, you can really look up at him from a close.
The first thing you notice is that he definitely smells like metal, and gasoline. Second, the small freckles on his nose bridge from the sun. You swallow as he stares down at you, as if unbelieving that you’re really standing next to him. Maybe you’re imagining it, but his frown seems to lighten, if just slightly. You’re very similarly affected, looking at him from this close up. When it stays quiet though, you remember that you were the one who called out to him in the first place.
“Are you-” you brush your hands on your cherry skirt, and then bring them up without thinking, “are you okay?” Your fingertips find his cheek, one hand holding onto his jaw as the other brushes over the bright colors that blossom underneath his eye. Your hands must be really cold, because his skin feels like fire against yours. When you press onto the bruise slightly, Chanyeol hisses. “Does it hurt a lot?” you question again, not minding his silence much. He’s never been much of a talker around you, you don’t expect it to change.
You’ll still express your worry though. “What the hell happened? Did you get jumped too?” He blinks for a second, before wrapping his hand around your wrist and bringing yours down from his skin. You flush slightly when he takes a deep breath, looking away when he lets go of you. You take a step back and bite your bottom lip, suddenly aware that must have made him feel uncomfortable. Your heart seems to bang in your throat when you look up at him again.
“Too?” Chanyeol mumbles, eyebrows pulling together in question.
You nod, and cross your arms over your chest, looking at the street instead of at him. “Well, yeah. One of my friends got jumped by someone a couple of days ago. I guess they were trying to rob him or something, but he doesn’t want to talk about it.” You then look at him again, meeting his dark eyes without flinching. Chanyeol’s hand, where it was hanging next to his thigh before, is stuffed into the large pocket of his overalls as he listens. “Did that person try to rob you too?”
When you don’t continue, Chanyeol seems to freeze as you look at him. Hardening up like wax, despite the sun on his shoulders. You can see it in his eyes, the closing up that happens so fast that you can barely believe that he wasn’t always like this. He gives the tiniest shake of his head, though you’re not sure in response to your question on to you being here in general. Instead, you take the cold towel from your shoulder and bring it up to his face again. “Here, put this against the bruising. Keeping it cold will help with-”
Before you can finish, Chanyeol pushes your hand down with more strength, and takes a step away. The door he had been holding open all this time finally falls closed with a loud rattling noise, making you jump slightly. “Will you stop doing that?” Chanyeol grunts, glaring down at you. “Why the fuck do you keep butting in on my problems?” Your chest closes up at his sudden hostility, making you blink up at him with a tremble of your lips. You bite your bottom one harder to keep from embarrassing yourself.
“I was just trying to help,” you breathe. Chanyeol runs his free hand through his white hair, and scoffs.
“I didn’t ask for your fucking help, okay.” He pulls up his nose and shakes his head, before stepping closer to the door. You take two steps back in surprise. “I’m done being polite. Just leave me the fuck alone and piss off.” Before you can apologize, or say anything else, he yanks open the door to the diner and disappears into it again— much like before. You might have followed him, if it wasn’t for the fact that he slams the door so hard that it rings in your ears.
With another step back, you blink away the wetness that suddenly starts collecting in your eyes, and take a deep breath. You bunch up the towel in your hand and walk back over to your door, suddenly feeling the soft color of the wood too bright for the occasion. You push it open with a slight tremble in your hands, and walk inside. Message received loud and clear.

“Here you go, you big troublemaker,” a voice sighs, laughter woven into it at the situation. Two cold hands cup his face, pressing an ice pack to his temple. She comes to sit on the edge of the bed, thigh pressing up against his own as she brushes some of his dark hair out of the way and out of his eyes. When he looks at her, she shakes her head, her own dark hair falling down from where she tried to tuck it away with a pin. “Did you at least beat the shit out of him?” Her voice is slightly raspy.
“You bet I did,” Chanyeol mumbles, grinning through his busted lip with pride. It’s true, the other’s face was a lot more messed up than his is right now. “No one talks shit about my girl without paying the price for it.” Price being a broken nose, in this case. He’s still slightly dizzy, but more so tired. He’s glad that she’s here to help, that isn’t always the case and taking care of yourself when you’ve been hit in the head isn’t always the easiest.
“I wish I could have been there,” she nods, “seen it. You always look so fucking hot when you get mad.” Her hands tangle in his hair while she talks, leaning down to press her dark lips against his. Chanyeol hisses at the feeling, suddenly aware of the split in his lip again. Dara laughs, and presses a little peck before straightening up. “I’ll have to leave before tonight, I have to catch the last train.”
“Do you have to go?” he asks, pouting slightly, unable to help it. “I’ll take you for a joyride around town, we can go watch the sunset at the beach.”
She huffs, and presses the ice pack back to his forehead with a grin. “You mean we can fuck at sunset at the beach.” Chanyeol smiles wide as he regards her, and lifts his hand to her cheek, brushing his thumb there with care. “I can’t, Yeol, I need this job to work out. We need this. One of us has to make money for the future.”
“I do make money. The garage is cleaned up now, and we already have some solid customers who come by for checkups.” Chanyeol blinks up at her frown, hating the way it looks on her. He wishes he could take it away, all the worries he know she has about this, all of it.
“Yeah, but I mean— secure types of money. We can’t buy a house off of Baekhyun’s drug money.” She sighs, and looks across the room for something, whatever it may be. “I’ll be back before you know it, handsome. In the meantime, you can get better and not get into fights?” Chanyeol smiles, watching as she crawls over his body to settle her thighs either side of his.
Baekhyun hates it when they get into things on the couch. “I thought you liked me getting into fights?” he grins, pulling her closer by her waist.
Though she looks away, he can see the agreement in her smirk. “I like watching you fight.” Her hands press up on his chest, grounding him in the moment. Being with Dara is always like this. It’s hard, real and painful, in all the ways that life is and sometimes Chanyeol thinks they’ll make it together. He hopes they do. “There’s no use getting into fights when I’m not there to enjoy it,” she continues, giving him a look which makes her dark eyes look dangerous. “Besides, you only enjoy getting into them when I’m cheering for you.”
“That’s true,” he nods, pulling her even closer and nuzzling his face in her neck, as she giggles. “I’ll miss you,” he breathes. He hates the times where she leaves, feeling it push on his lungs like gravity has flipped upside down, though he knows she needs this. Needs the space, the room to breathe. Dara is a fire, and you can’t smother her or she’ll die down.
She pushes up from him and gives him a frown, though amusement plays at her lips. “Don’t get all clingy on me, Park Chanyeol.” She removes her body from his and fixes her hair back into the clip, before tutting her lips. She’s so beautiful, is all he can think, her thundery shape moving through his house like a whirlwind. “Do you have a smoke?”
He nods. “In my jacket.”
“Good.” When she catches him staring, she smiles, and walks over to press the ice pack back to his bruises. She pops one of his cigarettes in her mouth and lights it, before taking a few steps back, and pointing at the cold thing pushed to his head. “Hold that. Keeping it cold will help with your stupidity.”
Chanyeol snorts, watching her back towards the door with a swing in her hips. “Romantic.”

Today is not a good day. It hasn’t been a good day since he woke up, and though many hours have passed, the heavy unsettling in his stomach is yet to leave. The warm smoke in his lungs are in harsh contrast with the freezing bite of the night air, swirling between the noise. Loud growls of cars zooming past, and people cheering along the side of the road. It’s always slightly surprising how many people turn up for races of theirs, both as a crowd and as a racer, knowing the amounts of money it takes to get a car in top condition.
Of course, there’s a lot of money to be won, so he guesses it makes up. Chanyeol leans against the hood of his car, and takes a calming breath of the familiar nicotine to hopefully settle the unexplained nerves. There’s something in the air, a tangible warning siren that crawls over his skin, and no matter how hard he tries to ignore it— it stays very much present. He’s always been good at pretending though, pretending that he’s fine even when he isn’t and so the people around him don’t worry. There’s nothing to worry about, Chanyeol confirms to himself.
He breathes out deeply, and watches as the cloud slips past his lips to dissolve into the obsidian of the night. The cheers get deafening when Kai’s signature, black Chevy Impala rounds the corner with a good amount of lead on the next. With a loud roar of his engine, he passes the mark first and skits to a halt, throwing open the door to yell victoriously along with the crowd. The sound is one of pure extacy, morphing Kai into the King of the streets. He looks alive, is all Chanyeol can think, as he watches his friend throw up his fists.
With a shrug, the tallest tosses his butt to the floor and walks between the mess of people to get to his friend. The crowd opens up slightly as he passes through, eyes following his shape as he moves. It’s nothing special anymore, he thinks, though it’ll never totally feel comfortable. Despite his loud hair color and tall statue, Chanyeol isn’t one easily seen, and he likes it that way. The shadows will always be his home. When he finally makes it over to the rest of the gang who are congratulating Jongin, he halts next to Suho. The dark haired man has a slight smile on his lips as he turns to him.
As Baekhyun laughs loudly at something Jongdae says, Suho crosses his arms over is chest with a slight nod. He glances up at the taller, and hums. “Did you watch the race?” His voice is steady when he talks, less excitable than Chanyeol remembers it was when meeting him, and though it could have been because of the aging— something tells him that it was more than that. His entire demeanor is tougher, more resistant than it used to be, another sign of the things they’ve been through together.
“Not that I really had to, he wins even when I’m not watching,” Chanyeol sighs, rolling his ring back and forth on his finger. All his friends are amazing chauffeurs, when it comes to speed that is. He is too, though he’s not a racer. With a deep sigh, he looks up from his feet to meet the older’s eyes. “But yes, I was watching. Why?” His voice drops at the end of his sentence. Suho isn’t straightforward in his wording at the best of times, definitely not with him and so the question is a necessary check-up.
“No reason,” Junmyeon just says, a slight smirk crawling onto his lips as he takes a step closer to the rest, hands sliding in his pockets. When he continues, the strange feeling peeks it’s nasty head up to squeeze his stomach together. “Someone else was watching too, you know, though they’ve never showed their faces here before. She could probably use a tour.” Chanyeol glares down at the brunet as he talks, though Junmyeon doesn’t take his eyes off of the celebrating Kai. The words that play in his mind don’t need to be spoken. Junmyeon laughs. “Ice cream girl is here, Yeol. I heard about her from Baekhyun.”
Of course. Chanyeol rolls his eyes and shoots some lightning at the oblivious man a few feet further down, before lifting his nose. “What makes you think I give a shit?” He almost spits the words, unable to help the irritation that fights it’s way to crawl up into his throat. More and more, people seem to piss him off, and it seems to have started when you came to town in your stupid bright dress and your even brighter smile. You’re like a rash that he’s unable to get rid off at this point, wishing he never noticed you in the first place. Now you show up everywhere, even at his races. His world, his life. Places where you don’t belong.
“Well,” Junmyeon nods, “you say you don’t but we’ve known you for a while now. You look bothered, at the very least. Why?” So much for pretending. Chanyeol clenches his jaw as he thinks, not willing to give in but unable to help the self-reflection. Because of course, Junmyeon is right. He is bothered, while very little has so much as shaken him in the last five years, and here you are— delivering him an earthquake. Chanyeol crosses his arms over his wide chest, and scoffs.
“Because you all won’t leave me alone about her, for one.” First Jongdae and Baekhyun, then Kyungsoo and Kai and now even their leader is putting his nose where it doesn’t belong. Even if it’s true, it feels invasive, the place one Chanyeol isn’t ready to open up about. Not now, and maybe even not in the future. Isn’t it for him to decide? He sighs, thinking about you for what feels a moment too long. “I don’t know what her fucking deal is, okay? All I know is that she annoys the life out of me.”
“Seems like you like her,” Junmyeon says, straightforward as much as they come for once.
“Don’t be fucking dumb,” the light-haired growls, just about done with the talk. In fact, Jongin’s on the liquor already, which means it’s about time to go. Sehun and Jongdae drive first, with the King to close the streets and so the end is here. “Well, game’s over,” he mumbles, already taking a step away. “I’m going.” Junmyeon stares him down for a long while without saying anything, before shaking his head as Chanyeol turns around without anything more. As he turns, he scans the crowd for the best exit, and as he does he sees a familiar face show up like a mirage.
Your hair is wilder than he’s ever seen it, your clothes dark just like your eyes are, traveling the length of the crowd. Chanyeol’s heart drops as he looks at you, wanting to run and stare at the same time, but instead he’s rooted to the spot. You look like her. Maybe it’s the light, or the confidence on your lips as you grab the arm of the man next to you— but you look just like her. A reflection of his life four years ago, back to break the part of him that she missed and for once, you might have cracked him right open.
In that one second, you might have broken down every wall he’s ever built, without knowing it. In a flash it disappears, as you look away and your lips curl back up into sunshine that lights up the entire parking lot. And suddenly you’re so far from her, that it gives him whiplash and makes his heart swell to constrict his lungs. Chanyeol looks away from you and back over the crowd, dizzy from the lack of breaths he’s been taking. Right as he steps forward, someone bumps into his shoulder harshly.
“Whoa, watch where you’re going!” the guy says, and as he turns he comes to be face to face with Shownu. He was in high school with the guy, though they never much talked, let alone were they friends. In high school, Chanyeol was too busy ruining his life to make friends with guys like him. Shownu glares him down, pushing the other back a bit to get some space. Only, in a single second Chanyeol’s large hand is around his wrist, holding him back. Though he might have not had many friends before, he does now, and he also knows that Shownu isn’t on good terms with some of them.
“Let go of me, jerk,” Shownu says, trying to pull from his grasp, “I need to talk to Kai.” His rude attitude only makes Chanyeol that much more annoyed. Today isn’t the day to piss him off like this, though it’s never the best idea.
“You’re not welcome here,” Chanyeol bites, squeezing his wrist harder to drive the point home. “I suggest you take your pathetic self home before you hurt yourself, jerk.” Shownu pushes him back harshly, shoving against his shoulders with all his strength and Chanyeol stumbles back, bumping into some people along the way. When he looks up, he’s sure his eyes spew fire, because some people takes step back. Shownu dusts off his hands on his pants and steps past him to walk away. Not the right day.
Without thinking, he jumps forward to grab the other, sending him clattering to the floor. He sits up on top of the scrambling Shownu and throws a punch to his jaw, heat shaking in his veins. Shownu manages to turn himself around and tries to grab his throat, but another fist connects to his face before he can. Chanyeol’s fists come down over and over again. Busting open his lip, his eyebrow, the only sound a sharp ringing between his ears. Blood dripping. When he takes a moment to push himself from the floor, Shownu smiles through the liquid from his face. Red flashes in front of Chanyeol’s eyes. He slams down his fist again, a painful crunching sounding out, from his hand or the other’s face is unclear.
Suddenly multiple hands jerk him back, pulling him off the body and holding him as he thrashes in their hold. He doesn’t know who it is, doesn’t need to know. They hold him tightly, and as they drag him further away, his body suddenly feels tired. His hands feel heavy, but he doesn’t let his gaze move from the slumped body for a second, glaring down at the other with disgust. “Yeol,” Kyungsoo sounds, and though he’s right next to him the sound echoes, “calm down.”
Someone in the crowd helps Shownu up, and now he can really see the damage he caused. His eyebrow is split open, dark blood covering his one eye. Chanyeol’s rings still drip from the blood. Shownu’s chin is covered in blood, and his head slumps uncomfortably into himself. When the hands finally let go of him, Yeol needs to take several deep breaths to get rid of the dizzy sensation. His hands still shake from the adrenaline, surging through him like a fire. Your face suddenly shows up from the crowd, wide and terrified as you break through the wall of people in worry. You don’t see him as he walks away. Welcome to the underworld. Chanyeol doesn’t look back as people make a path to let him through. Welcome to his world.

You’re Not From This World (Part Two)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Imagine the boys get sent to an alternate reality again without you, which leaves you stuck with the Winchester look-alikes, Jensen Ackles, and Jared Padalecki.
Pairing: Dean Winchester x reader, Jensen Ackles x alternate world!reader (Catherine, Cat)
Warnings: Dean and Sam absence, at least this part.
Words: 1600+
Disclaimer: I do not own Supernatural. This is fanfiction only. Please do not redistribute my writings on other sites, horrible or not. Thanks!
Part One
It was time to call in the cavalry.
“CAS! I NEED YOU NOW PLEASE!” You yelled aloud which surprised Jensen and Jared.
Within moments, Castiel appeared before you and the boys. “What’s wrong, Y/N?”
Jared had his mouth open, amazed by the angel’s appearance. “Wow! Did you see that Jens?! He really appeared out of nowhere!”
Castiel shot Jared a questionable look until he realized that the one before him was not Sam. He glanced at Jensen too, who also seemed amazed but didn’t show it as much as Jared did. The angel walked over to Y/N and pulled her to the side. “They are not Dean and Sam. They are not from our world.” He explained.
Y/N rolled her eyes, “No kidding Sherlock.” You took a glance back at the boys who were now talking to each other and probably about the angel’s magical appearance. “Uh, first, would you mind healing this?” You gestured to your right shoulder. Castiel nodded, placing his hand on your right shoulder. You felt a brief moment of warmness surround your shoulder and when it dissipated, your shoulder did not hurt anymore. “Thanks, Cas.”
Jensen and Jared saw the angel’s actions as Jared squealed about it to Jensen.
You let out a breath of air. “I think Dean and Sam got switched out for them by the witch somehow.”
“Hm. What was the name of the witch you were hunting?” Cas asked.
“Uh, she called herself Remy Kyteler, I think.”
Cas had a concerned look on his face when he heard the name. “What was happening to the victims?”
“They grew old or went crazy talking about how…” You had just realized something you hadn’t caught before. How could you have missed it? You asked yourself. “…how this wasn’t their home, or I’m guessing now, how this wasn’t their world.”
The angel frowned.
“What is it, Cas?” You asked worried about his frown.
“I don’t believe you were dealing with a witch. A witch from this world, without the book of the damned, does not possess the power to reach into other worlds. And we know as of right now, Rowena has the book.” Cas explained.
“So what were we dealing with then?” You asked confused and worried that the hunted was a bigger threat than they had originally thought.
“I’m not sure. I will look more into it and get back to you when I have found something.” And with that said, the angel vanished.
“Great. Super.” You groaned as you turned your attention back on the boys.
“Aw, did Cas leave already?” Jared asked, looking like a disappointed puppy.
“I’m guessing it won’t be easy to get us back. Or get your Dean and Sam back, will it?” Jensen asked.
“No, it won’t.” You let out a sigh. “Looks like you boys are stuck with me for a bit. In the meantime, you can finally experience the true work of researching.” You said walking over to the table and began tapping the top of the stacked books. “From what Cas told me, what we originally thought was a witch hunt may be something else. So, what you’ll be looking for is anything that deals with time and other worlds. Got it?”
The boys nodded their head. Jared seemed enthusiastic about getting to do actual research. Jensen didn’t seem to show much emotion besides being compliant to do what he was told.
You left to grab your laptop and came back taking a seat across from Jensen and next to Jared.
Hours passed with no leads. It looked to be almost an all-nighter. You took turns with the boys about who would use your laptop, while the other two read through books. Eventually, you made an easy pasta dish and a pot of coffee which both boys were happy to consume. There was one small thing that began bothering you after a while and it was Jensen’s excessive staring from time to time. Whenever you made eye contact, he would look back down at what he was doing. This only made you wonder if him and this Catherine, that they had called you earlier, were a thing in their world.
“Arghh, I can’t take it anymore!” Jared yelled.
You couldn’t help but laugh a bit to yourself. You had to admit that they lasted longer than you thought they would. “Why don’t you go take a nap, Jared? Researching can take a lot out of you and it’s pretty late.” You looked at the clock that read 3:03am. You all had probably arrived back at the bunker around 11pm last night. You were surviving on 6 hours of sleep prior. It was more than what you would usually get, at least. “You can use Sam’s bed. You two are basically the same.”
Jared nodded as you got up and then led him to Sam’s room.
He fell instantly on the bed, front first. “Just for a little bit, then I’ll come back to help.” He mumbled as he immediately passed out.
You shook your head at him laughing to yourself as you made your way back to the library. Walking by Jensen, you placed your hand on his shoulder, as you would usually do with Dean.
Jensen stiffened at your touch. Noticing, you took your hand off. “You can take a break too if you want. Get in a nap. I’d offer Dean’s bed but I might need to use it soon for my own nap.” You smiled.
“I’m good. I can keep going for a bit longer as long as I have my cup of joe.” Jensen replied with almost a forced smile.
“Okay, if you say so.” You said hopping back onto your chair you had been sitting in.
After another hour of researching, the stares from Jensen earlier hadn’t decreased which led you to ask, “So in your world, what’s the deal between us two?”
“I’m sorry?” Jensen asked taken back.
You placed the book down on your lap. “What’s the deal with you and this Cat chick? I mean, if you haven’t realized already, Dean and I are a thing here.”
Jensen smiled, “I know. You’re together in our show too. Also, the subtle touches since I came into this world were a giveaway. I’m sure you do them naturally without thinking. ”
“Yeah, it’s hard to not treat you the same way as him when you look exactly like him.” You answered. “Back to my question, what’s the deal with you and my other self, Cat? Obviously, something has to be going on, I doubt an alternate version of Dean and I wouldn’t have some sort of chemistry. Not to mention, you tend to stare a lot when you think I’m not looking.”
Jensen laughed. “I guess I should thank your hunter’s instincts for giving me away in watching you. Sorry to say, but in my world, you and I….I mean Cat and I, we’re just friends. That’s all.”
“Just friends. I remember those days between Dean and I.” You chuckled. “Sam use to get so frustrated at us for being stubborn to admit we had feelings for each other.”
“I bet.” Jensen chimed in.
“And I bet, it’s the same case with you two. Except Jared seems more like a teaser than someone who would get frustrated.” You smiled to yourself thinking about it.
Jensen smiled too. Y/N was right on the dot. Jared would tease him all the time about Cat.
“So what’s holding you back from taking the giant leap?” You asked, leaning forward on the table.
“You.”
“Me? Wait a minute? What?” Clearly confused and not expecting that answer, you leaned back in your chair.
“You. Dean. This. Supernatural.” He commented. “If I asked her out, and it goes wrong, I’d lose more than just a great coworker, I’d lose a great friend. And I’d rather have her as a friend than nothing. Also, the fans could lose her too. What if after it all goes wrong, it gets awkward on set that she wants to leave? I mean she just came back after a short hiatus to do a movie. I wouldn’t want her to leave now just because of me. I’d feel terrible.” Jensen placed his head in his hands, clearly in a sort of distress mood just thinking about it.
“Holy shit. You two are just alike.”
Jensen removed his face from his hands as he looked up at you. “What?”
“You and Dean. You’re totally alike. Always thinking about the negatives instead of the positives. No wonder you’re stuck in the “just friends” phase. Listen Ackles, right?” You looked to Jensen to confirm you got his last name correct. He nodded confirming you did. “If Cat is anything like me, she would never leave the show or stop being your friend because of a possible date gone wrong. And I’m sure, she’s probably thinking the same thing as you. But until one of you takes that leap out of the friend's zone, eventually one of you will move on to another out of loneliness. And it’ll just go downhill from there.”
Jensen chuckled, “You’re speaking out of experience?”
“I think you already know the answer to that and aware of the journey Dean and I had to go through. I’m hoping you guys will have a much easier experience, without having monsters and the lot not existing. Just don’t let her slip away. If Dean were here, I’m sure he would say the same to you.” You smiled at him.
Jensen leaned back laughing. “Who knew I’d need Y/N L/N to chew me out about my love life.”
“Hey, that wasn’t free advice. I’m expecting you to ask her out as payment.” You said crossing your arms.
“I will. I wouldn’t want the great Y/N coming after me for not following through with my payment. You’re definitely as badass as you’re written in our world.” Jensen chuckled. “I’m happy Dean has you.” He said smiling.
Before you could reply, Castiel appeared at the end of the table. “Y/N, I have news.”
Part Three
Feedback is welcome!

NCT 127 Neo City: Canada - The Origin (Vancouver)
I’m still going through my fancams and deciding what to post, but I thought I’d share some moments from the concert in the meantime!
Jaehyun kept commenting on how he has a crush on Vancouver, and later in the concert said he also has a crush on NCTzens
Yuta said several times that he loved Vancouver, and was impressed with our energy
They all kept calling us their angels throughout the concert, and at one point Taeyong said NCTzens are beautiful and sexy
Mark also did that weird clapping thing where he just flaps his hands around super fast xD
During Touch when they’re all in a line at the end, Johnny jumped away from the line and Haechan looked at him confused, but Johnny made a heart at all the members and they laughed and then he rejoined xD
Before the last few stages, they changed their outfits in groups. So while the older members were changing, the younger ones (Haechan, Mark, Jungwoo, Jaehyun, Doyoung) stayed on stage and talked more seriously about their time in Vancouver. The older members came out in the middle of Mark’s story so he said he’d continue later and the younger members left to change. Johnny said “now that the losers are gone...” and then they started doing their thing xD It was funny because the younger members were serious, but then the older members (Yuta, Taeyong, Johnny, Taeil) all had a competition where they did sexy/cool poses and we had to cheer for who was the coolest xD Johnny did body rolls and was super embarrassed after LOL. Then the younger guys came out and Johnny reminded Mark to finish his story lol
Mark told us how they visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge and he described it as “wobbly” and did this little wiggle and it was ADORABLE
Yuta had come out in a toque, and he kept commenting on it. So when the younger guys came out and they were all talking, Yuta told Mark he liked his hat (it was a baseball cap) and then Mark kinda stuttered and said he liked Yuta’s hat too and Yuta looked so pleased haha
During the member’s ments, they all mentioned how happy they were to visit Mark’s hometown
During Mark’s ment, Haechan poked fun at him and asked why he wasn't crying
At the very end of the concert when all of the members left the stage, Mark stayed behind on his own and told us that we made him really, really happy. He thanked us again and then left and istg I cried it was the sweetest thing
Interactions:
so my friend and I were row 6 and right in the middle of the stage so we got SUPER lucky and were able to make eye contact with all of the members and even get smiles from them all, especially when they were in the centre. you can see quick glances/looks in some of our fancams and we keep dying over it haha. Jaehyun is also both of our bias and we held up signs (you can see them in the pic they posted lol) when they came out and during his speeches, so he noticed us right away. I also know Korean and was singing along to all the lyrics and dancing most of the time so maybe they took notice of how hype I was I dunno lol. They were so energetic and I tried to send it back to them
I had a lot of eye contact in particular with Jaehyun, Mark, Johnny and Taeyong (I died)
at one point while they were standing and talking, I looked at Johnny and he was looking at me and I DIED and looked away cause I was so shy, and then I looked back and he was STILL looking at me, and then he looked away a second later lol
I also waved at Taeil and he smiled at me and istg he has such an infections smile
During Summer 127, they throw signed balls into the audience, and Taeyong sort of did the bro-nod at me and threw a ball but it landed in the row in front of me and he sort of shrugged at me and laughed xD he tried oof
At one point, Jaehyun was saying how he heard a teaser for Superhuman had come out but he wasn’t sure (his teaser with Doyoung and Taeil came out right before the concert started) and Mark was kinda confused to cause they didn't know for sure, and I was pointing at Jaehyun and yelling “IT’S YOURS!” and he saw and looked at me and gestured towards me and said “RIGHT?” Cause I was confirming it came out LOL
At a different part, they were having us yell the date that We Are Superhuman comes out, and they would say “WHEN DOES IT COME OUT?” and we’d yell “MAY 24TH!” and one time Jaehyun looked right at me when I yelled it
Towards the end when they were doing their ments, Jaehyun was concluding his speech and my friend did a finger-heart and he waved and made a heart with his arms and looked at us (among other fans) and we both freaked out to each other and then he kinda laughed at us xD
Before 0 Mile, they get into position and Jaehyun looks out at everyone and turns around, but before he turned around he gave us a little wave and we freaked out AGAIN lol
I’m so grateful I was able to fly to Vancouver for this concert. The were super energetic the entire time, and just looked like they were genuinely having fun. They’re also amazing performers and made a clear effort to interact with/hype up the crowd. If you didn’t get to see them on this tour, I hope you get to on their next tour - I would definitely recommend it! I love them so much and I hope I get another chance to see them someday <3 Also Jaehyun 100% smirks and touches his hair as much irl as he does in videos lol

The Ghost of Terrasen {Ch 1}
Author’s Note: My newest fanfic, including all characters from Sarah J Maas’ Throne of Glass series, but will revolve mainly around Lysandra and Aedion. I am excited for this one, and have big plans I think you all will enjoy! Let me know what you think.
Warning: Will include dramatic elements, such as sex, death, blood, alcohol, references to mental illnesses, etc. Keep in mind this is a murder mystery, and is suited for mature readers.
Click here to read the intro/teaser.
“Lysandra.”
The sound of my name was a breath of fresh air. It sounded like a secret, like a provocative sensation that was demanding to be felt when it came from his lips.
“Well, Lysandra, may I take you out this Friday night?”
I didn’t answer at first. He was two years older than me. I was a sophomore, and a friend of his cousin on top of that. It didn’t sound like a good idea. Aelin. I needed to ask Aelin.
“Your silence is killing my confidence,” he laughed, his eyes sparkling.
He was handsome. He was kind. He seemed genuine. What did I have to lose?
“Okay,” I agreed. “I’ll be ready at seven.”
Walking was easier than it used to be.
As a member of the walking dead, I didn’t feel breathless, even though I had already strutted eight blocks down Monroe Avenue. My muscles were not growing weary, and perspiration did not present itself. I simply walked with an eerie stillness, even though my feet hit the concrete, one foot in front of the other in steady determination.
The police station sat on the corner across from a convenient store that was attached to a local café – a café in which I had gone in a thousand times to grab a chicken club with a side of Emrys’ homemade baked potato soup to go. It was Aedion’s favorite combination from Mistward, the hole in the wall, and I loved nothing more than to bring it to him at work when he was least expecting it.
I wished I could bring it to him then.
Instead, not bothering to open the glass door that read East Terrasen Police Department, I entered the station and instantly began my search. Officers walked around diligently, tending to their work as they did so.
I didn’t see him in the front room, so I hurried my way through the maze of desks and hallways until I reached the corner where his small, plain desk sat. Expecting to find him sitting there, disappointment flooded me when I found that he wasn’t.
The only belonging that marked the desk as his was the picture of us from my junior prom last year, sitting together on the hilltop outside of school after one too many secret shots of tequila. Aelin took the picture, getting the whole city lit up behind us.
Probably not the best photo to have displayed as a police officer, which was probably why he had it sitting in plain sight for everyone to see.
A sudden ache filled my chest, just as I heard his voice.
The blinds to the meeting room were open, and although it had only been a week, Aedion did not look like the Aedion I had loved. Heavy black circles had grown beneath his eyes, the turquoise and gold that were usually lit with excitement and rebellion had dulled.
“You don’t understand!” he yelled at Gavriel, his father, his boss. The Chief.
I hadn’t realized I was gravitating toward him until I lifted my hand, and it went right through his arm. He didn’t even flinch.
“I do understand, Aedion, and I’m trying my best. We all are.” Gavriel did not look much older than Aedion, especially not in his son’s current condition. The thirty-six-year-old looked even younger than he was, having Aedion when he was only sixteen. Aedion looked just like his father, except for the eyes. It was the one thing he got from his mom, and the only thing he had to remember her by. He continued in his calm, steady voice, “You were not the only one who cared for her in this town.”
“Don’t talk about her like she’s –“ he stopped, and shook his head. “She’s alive. I can feel it.”
Gavriel bit his lip. “Aedion –“
“I can feel it,” he snapped.
My fingers grazed his stubbled cheek, sorrow consuming my entire being. His eyes began to water as he looked away from his father, and if I knew Aedion, which I did, I knew he hated the look of pity he was being given. I couldn’t blame Gavriel, though. Even Aedion’s uniform was wrinkled.
“I’m so sorry,” I whispered, and for a moment, I thought he had heard me. His eyes found mine, but they didn’t focus. He couldn’t see me. I wasn’t real. I wasn’t there. I was a ghost.
“Please,” Aedion began, pleadingly. “Please let me just gather a search party-“
“We already have search parties –“
“None in the western woods!”
The two stared at each other, looking more like brothers than father and son. I stood in between them, glancing back and forth between the pair.
“There are beasts in the western woods that could tear through every member of this force,” Gavriel replied, calmly. “People that go for a stroll through the western woods do not often return.”
“Exactly. That’s even more of a reason to –“
“No,” Gavriel cut him off. “Don’t ask me again.”
And with that, he was gone. I watched him leave. My eyes traveled after him as he slammed the door, rattling the glass, and rushed around the corner.
He just cares about you, I wanted to tell Aedion. He doesn’t want to lose you, too.
Aedion wasn’t thinking about that, though. He grabbed a coffee mug off the table and threw it at the wall, glass shattering and black coffee splattering on the white walls. He screamed, a low, shriveled sound. It was the sound of agony. Pure, loathing agony.
“I’m sorry,” he said, as a sob shook his body, as he pressed his palms against the wall and hung his head. His hair was down, hanging past his shoulders, which was unusual. He looked as if he hadn’t looked in a mirror in days. He looked as if he didn’t care. He looked as if he cared too much. “I’m sorry, Lys, I’m so sorry.”
Although I knew he couldn’t feel it, I wrapped my arms around his waist and laid my forehead against his back. My lips pressed softly in between his shoulder blades, just as they had a hundred times before.
“Give me a sign she’s still here,” he pleaded, to whichever higher power was listening. “Please, just a small one. I need a sign. Any sign. Any sign.”
“I’m still here,” I reassured him, although I wasn’t even sure that was true. “I’m still here.”
He took a deep breath, and recollected himself before pushing off the wall. “Get it together, Ashryver.”
I couldn’t help but smile as I remembered all the times I had heard him say that phrase: before a game, before his test to graduate from the police academy, before a date.
Before stripping me down and kissing every inch of my body.
Although, then it was a joke. Now, it seemed to be his current motto.
Aedion wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, and slapped his cheeks a few times, before opening the door and shutting it with a soft click. He pulled back his shoulder length, golden hair as he owned the hallways that led him to the front office, then into the sunny, cloudless Terrasen afternoon.
“Ready, Ashryver?” Dorian asked, leaning against their patrol car with his arms crossed.
Aedion had never liked Dorian in school, even though he was a close friend of Aelin’s. But, since they both joined the police force right after graduation, and became partners, the two had grown close. Dorian watched my boyfriend wistfully as he approached, as if he knew what had just occurred.
“Always,” Aedion replied with a sigh, opening the passenger side door.
“Did he approve?”
Aedion didn’t look at him as he shook his head. “I don’t care, though. I’m going.”
No. No, no, no. I wanted to wrap my hands around his neck and squeeze some sense into him.
“You’re going?” Dorian raised his eyebrows, his voice hushed. “To the western woods? Alone? Aed –“
“Before you tell me it’s a bad idea,” Aedion interrupted, closing himself in the patrol car, “I already know. I have a feeling, though.”
“Those woods go on for miles,” Dorian argued. “There’s no way –“
“I’ll go every day if I have to.”
A moment of silence consumed us as I counted on Dorian to change his mind. Bad idea! It’s a horrible idea! Dammit, Aedion!
Dorian closed the driver’s side door, and stared straight ahead as he replied, “You’re not going alone.”
Idiots. Both of you.
Aedion remained silent.
“We’re off tomorrow,” Dorian continued. “I’ll get Chaol and Rowan to join.”
Aedion shook his head. “No, the girls will want to come.”
“Let them,” Dorian shrugged. “Just give them a weapon.”
“Are you kidding me?” I yelled, hoping through some supernatural nonsense that if I raised my voice they’d be able to hear me.
“Fine,” Aedion agreed, letting loose a long, deep breath. “Fine.”
“Uh, no, it’s not fine,” I rolled my eyes. “What if I’m not there? What if you’re risking your lives for no reason?”
But, what if I was there? What if Aedion’s hunch was right? What if they found me, and I was still alive? What if I was still there because I wasn’t dead, but I was stuck in between? What if….
Rubbing my temples, I let out a loud groan. I wouldn’t think about the what-ifs. Aedion was going to find me, I was sure of it. They all would. Aedion, Dorian, Aelin, Manon, Rowan, Chaol. They were coming for me.
I wished I could help them. I wished I could tell them where I was. I wished I could tell them I was okay.
But I didn’t know anything. The only thing I was sure of was that I was definitely not okay.
So, I do want to confirm that chapters will typically be longer than this. I hope you enjoyed and am as excited about this story as I am! Let me know what you thought. :)

After a Decade, UA Games Announces New Sequel to Popular Fantasy RPG Smash Hit, Hero Adventure: Symbol of Peace
By Maya Lurelin
June 15, 2015, 3:42 pm
Boku no Hero Adventure is the upcoming new installment to the popular fantasy RPG franchise, Hero Adventure. Known for its memorable characters, engaging mix of simulation and RPG combat, and an engaging fantasy world, Hero Adventure defined the early 90s as one of the most beloved RPG games. The story of All Might and Shimura Nana’s struggle against the villainous All for One inspired spin off light novels, 4-koma, and even one questionable live action movie.
However, after a decade, fans had begun to lose hope that UA release a sequel to continue All Might’s adventures. So imagine the collective shock at the UA panel’s presentation when those familiar chords of “You Say Run” began to swell. At the panel, UA debuted their a 30-second long teaser trailer, mainly showcasing nostalgic environments like the Ingenium Manor and the Pussycat Woods now rendered beautifully in 3d. The trailer ended with a stunning cut of the One for All blade emerging from molten lava and a white gloved hand grabbing its hilt. The title card revealed that the sequel is to be called Boku no Hero Adventure and UA Games is expecting a release date next year in June 2016.
Already fans are clamoring for more details, but at the moment, information seems to be sparse. Little is known about the content of the game or its characters. Many speculate that All Might will no longer be the protagonist, comparing the hand in the trailer to All Might’s, and the game will naturally follow the eighth wielder of the One For All blade. At the panel, lead developer Horikoshi Kohei said:
“It’s been a decade since the original Hero Adventure game was released and so we want to deliver something that will both satisfy fans of the original as well as bring in new fans to the series. In every way, Boku no Hero Adventure is meant to be the next step in the Hero Adventure legacy.”
Likely trailers and other promotional material will begin to be released as 2016 rolls around. So far, Boku no Hero Adventure has been confirmed for the PS4and PC.
Boku no Hero Adventure is set to be coming out Summer 2016 in Japan, English localization not yet confirmed.

BNHA in Famitsu scans, First Look at Midoriya Izuku, the 8 th wielder of One For All, and Exclusive Interview with Neda Hirofumi, Art Director
By Kevin Lee
December 22nd, 2015, 2:28 pm
This week, Famitsu released the first artworks of the protagonist for Boku no Hero Adventure, the highly anticipated sequel of Hero Adventure: Symbol of Peace, coming out June 2016. The issue confirms long held fan suspicions that the game does not feature All Might, the protagonist of HA: SoP, as its main character. Instead, fans can look forward to playing as Midoriya Izuku, the purported student and eight inheritor of the legendary blade, One for All. The game setting is said to take some twenty years after the original Hero Adventure.
(thank you to Tanaka-san for the scans!)
This magazine issue also included a rare interview with the game’s Art Director, Neda Hirofumi, who talks about the difficulties in moving designs from 2D into 3D. Here are some excerpts below:
Neda: When I was brought on to do the design work for Boku no Hero Adventure I was very nervous! I had actually played the original Hero Adventure when I was in college, on the PS1. So the series was very nostalgic for me. My friends all asked me when I got the job, isn’t it fun to design for the characters and environments you grew up drawing? But I ended up being the unhappiest when the design wasn’t working. *laughs*
Neda: You see, the original Hero Adventure was 2D and it was the era of beautiful sprite work. Your impression of the landscapes and those American comic book battle scenes were really strong. So we had a long debate of whether Boku no Hero Adventure should try to look like that. But Horikoshi-san [the lead developer] really wanted to push our boundaries and not just create something easy. But the effort to really translate the feelings in a 2D world into an original 3D world isn’t easy. *laughs*
Neda: Horikoshi-san knew from the start that we wanted to make a game that was the reverse of a sequel. That became a bit of a catchphrase around the office. How to make a sequel that wasn’t a sequel. And so I let those feelings express themselves in the art and that’s why in 3D, we went with a richer, more stylized design and a kind of visual charm, to really try and make our players go, “oh, this is the world I saved ten years ago, but it’s completely new and I want to explore it”.
Boku no Hero Adventure is set to be coming out July 2016 in Japan, US, and EU for the PS4, WiiU, and PC.

For @skiretehfox's Maximus AU which is one of my favorite iterations of Max (and it's how I found your blog!) I fell in love with her at first sight and this is me singing praise and thanks for creating her and the whole AU. I hope I didn't write her ooc and if I did, please correct me. Anyways, here's the fic, enjoy!
Maximus Victory
Maximus was never one to be bothered to make an effort. In fact, she's given up trying altogether. She's learned at an early age that effort is futile but it's not because of the ratio of attempts to failures, rather the opposite. Everything was just so easy to achieve and so predictable. The world was dictated by patterns and to accomplish a goal was to simply follow the set path with predetermined rules. Perhaps that's why the only semblance to excitement there was in life for her was when she's bending the said rules or when there were hardly any restrictions in the first place. Either works and since she gets bored easily, she doubles in both.
She majors both in Law and in the Arts, Photography in particular, at the same time. There's a reason why she specializes in both of these areas. Manipulating the laws of legality was interesting enough to work as a brain-teaser for her on good days. Manipulating the laws of photography to get that perfect shot can be entertaining and fulfilling at times. And then there's the hidden third Major in Time, manipulating the laws of space and time just because she can.
No, she didn't fucking stutter. She has time powers, deal with it.
It's a rather dull story if you asked Maximus and although it was surprising at the time, that excitement obviously didn't last for the rest of her life. Actually, that got her the time powers in the first place: the end of her life, or at least it was supposed to be. Coming from a prestigious family has its own downsides aside from the boring parties filled with pretentious adults pretending to give a shit. For Maximus, she got kidnapped at the age of ten. The criminals weren't even professionals and ended up accidentally shooting her. She would have died too or maybe she did die but her rewind just overwrote that history. Needless to say, someone other than her ended up with a bullet on that day.
Rewinding time? What-the-fuck-ever. She doesn't give a shit.
Having time powers got old real fast. It was nothing that extraordinary for her as mastering any other skill. Within weeks she learned how to prevent the nosebleeds and within months, she could rewind for more minutes than she'll ever need to. She's confident that she knows how it works and mastered all of its tricks so much in fact that whatever thrill she felt on the first time had long since died along with the timeline where she's supposed to be dead. The supernatural aspect of it has been normalized and has now become routine. In short, she got bored. She started to think that whatever this was just might be the most exciting experience she'll ever get.
Her boring days carried on until she turned eleven and she attended a charity event in Seattle with her parents. She absolutely loathed these social gathering of hypocrites and if she had a choice, she wouldn't be here at all. Unfortunately being a kid meant less free will on her part but at the very least she was allowed freedom to separate and roam on her own. The exhibit wasn't even that interesting but it will have to do rather than the annoying adults that filled it. As she easily weaved through the groups of people she would have nothing to do with, she eavesdropped on voices that only spoke of bullshit.
Until she heard a voice that seemed to carry an IQ that was higher than the room's average.
"What an insult." The voice belonged to a girl with long blond hair and a scowl that matched her disgust. She's standing by one of the art booths and muttering to herself far too loudly and condescending. "No one's actually here to donate for the arts. Everyone's too busy kissing ass with people instead of actually admiring the displayed masterpieces." She glared at the room in general with great disapproval that Maximus couldn't help but approve.
"Masterpieces?" She smoothly took a spot beside her with an amused smirk. "Point me at one when you see them."
The girl turned to her, most likely surprised that someone would comment on her not so inner monologue. Her cheeks were tinged red with embarrassment but she quickly masked it under the guise of anger. She's certainly a proud one. "Well of course I didn't mean all of these!" She gestured to the entirety of the room and then crossed her arms. "There's no such thing as a gallery filled with only the best works. More than half are usually dull stud shots just trying to catch a ride on the greatness of the actual good ones."
Well she's not wrong although Maximus wouldn't want to inflate her ego by admitting that. At least this girl knew what she was talking about and she had the backbone to speak them out. Her eyes shone with the slightest of interests. "Huh, is that what you think so?" She tested her, intimidating.
"That's what I know so." The girl confidently replied and with a raised chin, she beckoned her, "And? What do you think?"
Maximus blinked. That's new. So there truly existed a person who wouldn't shrink from her. This girl could hold her own ground and who was Maximus to deny her conversation? "Hmm..." She hummed shortly and then pointed to one photo in particular. "Well this guy's trying too hard to go for Avedon-esque."
It was unexpected but the girl's face lit up at the mention of the photographer. It was so bright and instantaneous that Maximus could have sworn that a flash literally went off. "You know Richard Avedon? He's my hero!" She started excitedly and even jumped a bit when she fully turned towards her. When she realized that she had forgotten the proper but also boring TPO, she quickly composed herself. She held herself back but the embers in her eyes continued to glow warmly. "I mean... ahem, yes it is rather distasteful at how poor his attempt is. It's an absolute disgrace. I can't believe this crap is even here."
So this girl apparently also knew how photography worked and Maximus is impressed because that's already more than most of the guests' actual knowledge of the art. "And how would your attempt be?"
"Obviously better than this amateur." She scoffed and there was something with the way she said it, the power in her voice, that told her that she wasn't just all talk. "See, the technique is just..." And then she proceeded to expound on how to pull off an Avedon photoshoot.
And although Maximus was not one to socialize, she thought that she didn't mind spending time with this girl.
"Maximus Caulfield." She finally said after their fourth conversation. There was a small but noticeable proud grin on her face. This girl had earned the right to her name and frankly, she enjoyed her company. "It's a fucking relief to know that there's someone here who isn't a retard."
The girl just nodded in agreement. "Likewise. You aren't just air yourself." Despite her proud attitude, there was a clear underlying tone of approval in her voice. "If you don't already know, I'm Maribeth Chase. I suppose you can call me Mary for short."
"Mary, huh?" She rolled the name across her tongue experimentally. Something about the name just didn't sit right with her and she wracked her brain as to why. In the end, she couldn't figure out the reason but she did figure out a new nickname. "Nah, I think I'll just call you Vic."
"Vic?" She repeated and with obvious confusion written on her face. "Why Vic?"
She shrugged. "Dunno. It just feels right."
"Well I'm not the only one going home with a stupid nickname, Maxine." She eyed her levelly.
"It's Max, never Maxine." Maximus shot back and then smirked. "I think we're going to get along just fine, Vic."
They got along more than just fine, so much in fact that their parents already arranged for them to get married in the future.
Not like that made any difference since Maximus wasn't planning on spending the rest of her life with anyone else. She already spent her first eleven years with boring complacency and she'd be damned if that lasted any longer. So they meet again at another gala the next month and then after, they scheduled a meeting without the crowd of overaged morons. Maximus found Vic interesting enough that she dropped from her current school and transferred to hers. Vic couldn't believe what she did at first but she may have half screamed half squealed when her parents confirmed the fact. Maximus later found out about it and teased the hell out of her cute blushing face.
By the time that Vic got her pixie cut, they were already dating. The confession wasn't as much romantic as it was spontaneous.
"Date me." Maximus just suddenly dropped out of nowhere during an ordinary drive to the coffee shop.
The confession was just so unexpected that it almost passed by Vic's head. Almost. In a few seconds, her brain stopped and so did the car as her foot slammed on the brakes. Her head turned and faced her, gaping. "What did you just say?"
"Eyes on the road, partner." Maximus teased. "Did you know that most car accidents happen because the driver is looking elsewhere?"
"Oh, don't you pull that shit on me." Vic snarled and Maximus smiled wider because even Vic's angry face was cute. She didn't share her same amusement though. She glared harder. "Did you just say what I think you said?"
"Sorry, did I stutter?" Maximus leaned in close, so close that their noses were almost touching and their breaths were warm and mixing, and oh god it was intoxicating for Vic. In a seductively low voice, Maximus whispered, "I said fuck me."
A delectable shiver ran through Vic's spine and Maximus' teeth showed. There's also the obvious coloring of her cheeks but Vic was adamant on powering through this. "Maybe I'll think about it when you say what you actually first said."
"So that's a yes on fuck?" Maximus grinned devilishly.
Vic's blush burned to a darker shade as she stammered, "F-Fuck, Max! Just say those goddamned words already!" And in a softer, more shy voice she whispered, "I just... I just want to hear them and know this is real." And that's Maximus's signal to quit messing around.
She schooled her face into one of seriousness as she gazed deeply. No more fucking around. "Date me, Vic." Before Vic could answer, Maximus' lips were already on hers. And when she pulled back, she faintly heard the reverent whisper of a "yes" that she pulled from Vic's lips. Maximus licked her lips with pride. "We're gonna fucking rule the world together."
As much as Maximus would have loved to skip to the part where they rule the world, Vic thought it was imperative for them to continue their education and this was non-negotiable. So fast forward to now where they're in college. At least they share an apartment so she thinks it's not all that boring. Maximus still doesn't give a shit about things but Vic does and she makes it a point that Max knows.
"Max, get your lazy ass up already or you'll miss your defense." Vic scolded her for the nth time this past ten minutes. "Don't make me throw water at you because you know I will if you don't get up in the next thirty seconds."
"And ruin the bed? Where ever will we sleep then?" Maximus gasped playfully.
"Obviously I'll be taking the sofa and you'll be sleeping on the cold hard ground. Twenty seconds." Vic tapped her foot irritably by the bedside.
"Hey, don't talk about our floor like that." Maximus pouted. "Besides, it's more comfortable than you think. The coolness is perfect for the summer weather."
"It's officially winter in two weeks. And no, you're not getting any extra blankets to touch our impeccable floor." Vic pushed. "Ten seconds."
"Vic, it's eight in the morning. My defense is at nine. There's no need to rush. Besides, the prof is just as tardy as I am anyways." Maximus reasoned but Vic was having none of that.
"Five seconds, Max." She announced tersely and raised a glass of water threateningly.
Maximus immediately shot up at the last second, reached for the glass and downed the whole drink. "There. Now where's my morning kiss?" She smiled lopsidedly.
"That hardly bears merit for a reward." Vic scoffed as she took the glass and set it aside on the bedside drawer.
Without warning, Maximus leaned forward and pecked her on the lips. "I'm taking it anyways." She grinned toothily.
Vic's already used to Maximus' impulsive displays of affection but she never did learn how to tame her blushes. "You're insufferable." She muttered but not with a small smile.
"That's so sweet of you to say, thank you." Maximus replied with a chuckle that ended shortly when she growled lowly, "So where's my morning makeout session?"
Vic blinked. Her eyes quickly flitted to the clock and then back to her girlfriend, debating. She bit her lower lip in thought as Maximus licked hers in anticipation. Until finally, Vic let out a sigh and leaned forward. "Fuck it. Ten minutes tops."
Maximus just grinned in victory. "Negotiable, right?"
And sure, life was still boring as hell most of the time and Maximus could still never be bothered to make an effort. But it's moments like these that make her consider otherwise. Maximus couldn't care less about anything but Vic worries about everything. Life has been less boring with Vic around and Maximus will do everything within her power to keep this life. Whenever she thinks of Vic, she thinks that maybe she'd like to at least try. Effort has never been her thing but maybe that's just because she didn't have a reason worth it before— before Vic. It's different now and maybe she's changed as well even if only just by a bit.
Maximus puts in a little more effort nowadays and even more so when Vic rewards her.

Omg yay!!!!!!!!!!! You just made a crappy day so much better
I’m glad that I could make your day. I’ll even do you one better.
Keep in mind when you read this that it is an update but not an update. It is not part of the plot, but instead a one shot based in the world. I was writing it to celebrate the one year anniversary of Barista’s Choice and I got carried away.
So, here is a little teaser for you….
~Valentine’s Day~
Valentine’s Day had never been a holiday that Lexa wasovertly fond of. It felt too commercial to her, even though it wasn’t acommercial holiday. The whole ‘show your loved one how much they mean to you’was not something that she had ever understood. Celebrate your love for yoursignificant other one day out of three hundred and sixty five days? No thanks. Why can’t you do that every day?
Costia had been a big believer in celebrating and so Lexahad been forced to go over the top for her girlfriend.
Clarke had the same feelings as Lexa when it came tocelebrating. She actually preferred to celebrate her love for Lexa on days thatwere not observed as national holidays. She would send flowers to Lexa’s officeat least once a week. ‘Just because you’re you,’ is what the card would alwaysread, in Clarke’s loopy scrawl. Even now, three years after marrying Clarke, her wife managed to make her feel like they were in college again. Niylah wouldalways make fun of Lexa when she’d see the giant bouquet of whatever flowerClarke chose that week sitting on Lexa’s desk, because the brunette wouldalways turn beet red.
It was really strange to work with one of her wife’s exes, but she and Niylah had actually become close friends over the years. They werehired by the same law firm straight out of college. Niylah ended up marryingthe girl that Clarke had introduced her to back in her junior year, before shestarted dating Lexa.
Even though she wasn’t keen on celebrating such a commercialholiday, this year Clarke gave her the best gift ever.
~*~*One Week Ago*~*~
Clarke had been moody. Moodier than normal. For the pastmonth, she’s been working on her new exhibition for her gallery so she has beenbusy. Most of her time at home, she has been holed up in her studio, trying toget her pieces put together.
Lexa didn’t mind that Clarke was busy with work, she lovedthat her wife was passionate about her art. And she had a very demanding jobtoo, so it wouldn’t be fair for her to be mad about Clarke being busy.
No matter how busy they were, they both made it a point tohave supper together every night. They had yet to miss an evening togethersince they’d been married.
So, for the life of her, Lexa cannot figure out why Clarkeis not home right now. She had sent her wife a text about an hour before shegot off of work, asking what she wanted for dinner. Clarke replied immediately, letting Lexa know that she was craving pad Thai like nobody’s business.
Lexa made sure to bring home Clarke’s pork pad Thai fromtheir favorite Thai restaurant, barely remembering to order the shrimp springrolls that Clarke always wanted but never asked for.
She hears Fish bark as she slips her key into the lock. She’s pretty sure that her lazy dog is barking at her from her and Clarke’sbed. Her tiny, baby Husky is not so little anymore. At five years old, Fish isa sixty pound beast.
Her suspicions are confirmed when she walks into the house. She can hear Fish’s bark emanating from their bedroom, but he makes no effortin moving to check out what is going on in the house.
“You’re a terribleguard dog, Fish. What if I was a thief?”
At the sound of Lexa’s voice, Fish hops off of the bed, padding into the living room. His tail wags as he sees Lexa standing in thedoorway, take out bags in one hand and her briefcase in the other. Fish comesup to her and sniffs at the take out, nudging her hand with his snout.
“Yeah right. Keepdreaming dude. Even if I did feed you people food, you were a terrible guarddog tonight.”
When Lexa doesn’t cave after another nudge to her hand, Fishchanges his tactics. He rubs his face and body against Lexa’s leg, getting hislong fur all over her black slacks. Lexa jumps back with a gasp, her backhitting the front door.
“Fish! Come on! You knowthat it’s damn near impossible to get your fur out of my slacks. Go lay down, you butthead.”
Fish whines, staring intently at the food. With a glare inhis direction, the stubborn Husky takes his leave, heading back into the masterbedroom.
Lexa chuckles at her goofy dog, heading towards the kitchenso that she can set the food down.
After setting her things down on the kitchen counter, Lexapulls her cell phone out of her pocket so that she can call Clarke. The callgoes straight to voicemail, which doesn’t surprise Lexa at all. Clarke isnotorious for forgetting her cell phone in the gallery. When she actuallyremembers to carry it on her person, it is usually dead because she frequentlyforgets to charge it.
Lexa leaves a voice message for Clarke, inquiring about herwife’s whereabouts, just in case she forgot about dinner. Lexa has to laugh outloud about that, because Clarke would never forget about their dinner plans, especially when Thai food is involved. With a resigned sigh, she sets the deviceon the counter, deciding to jump into the shower before heading over to thegallery. She puts the bags of food into the oven, hoping that it will keep warmwhile she is gone.
She heads into the master bedroom, shedding her tailoredsuit as she makes her way into the bathroom. She knows that she is going tohave a horrible time trying to get Fish’s fur off of her slacks, so she setsthem aside so that she can get them dry cleaned. She would rather pay somebodyelse to deal with that devil dog’s fur.
She showers quickly, even though she would rather take hertime. She usually takes a longer shower when she gets home from work, but she’sworried about her wife. It’s totally unheard of for Clarke to be late fordinner, even if she is running a little late. After toweling off, she getsdressed in a pair of black yoga pants and a white tank top. When she comes outof the steam filled bathroom, Fish is standing next to the door with his tailwagging expectantly. Lexa chuckles softly, scratching between the husky’s ears.
“Fine. I guess thatyou can ride with me to pick up your mama. But, you’d better not get drool allover my windows again!”
The drive to the gallery is usually a ten minute commute, but the rush hour traffic in LA delays Lexa another ten minutes.
Clarke’s sky blue Volkswagen Jetta is parked outside of thesmall red brick building. Other than a small glare of light coming from theback of the gallery, the rest of the building is dark. She heads inside of thegallery with Fish hot on her heels.
The front door is locked, but Lexa has a spare key on herkey ring. She unlocks the front door and walks in, relocking the door behindher. Fish immediately begins his search for his mama, snout in the air as hesniffs her out. Lexa follows dutifully behind her dog, worry settling in herbones.
“Clarke?” Lexacalls out as they enter the blonde’s office.
The light in the room is dim, shadows cast all over thewalls. Clarke’s stuff is all over her desk, her purse dumped out on the woodensurface. Her cell phone is on top of the pile. Lexa picks up the device andpresses the home button. The phone is dead, just as she suspected. She knowsthat Clarke has a charger in her office, why she doesn’t use is completely loston Lexa. One of these days, she’s going to convince her wife to be morediligent about having her phone on her and charged.
She turns around to call Fish, but the words die in herthroat. Fish has managed to push open the bathroom door in Clarke’s office. Heis sitting on the ground next to the toilet, his face resting against Clarke’sslumped over body.
Lexa moves quickly, fear putting her body on autopilot. Shekneels down next to her wife, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Clarke. Baby.”
Clarke’s body tenses as she startles awake. Her blue eyesfrantically move around the room, trying to figure out where she is. When shemeets Lexa’s concerned gaze, a sleepy smile graces her lips.
“Hey, Lexie.”Clarke rasps out, her voice rough with sleep.
“Hey sweetheart. Youfell asleep in the bathroom.”
“Yeah.”
“Not that this is theweirdest place I’ve ever found you sleeping in, but why were you in here on thefloor?”
“Oh, I um, I wasn’tfeeling very good. I came in here and got sick. I guess that I fell asleepafter I threw up.”
“You got sick baby?”
“Yeah.”
“Did you eat somethingweird that made you feel icky?”
“No. I had thatprotein shake that you made me this morning. And for lunch O brought me asandwich from that deli that you like.”
“Hmm. Have you feltsick any other day recently?”
“No. I was thinkingthat it was from stress, since I only have a few more days to get this showtogether before it opens.”
“Yeah, probably.” Lexaplaces an open palm on Clarke’s forehead. “Youdon’t have a fever, so that’s good.”
“Yeah, did I missdinner?”
“No baby. I left it inthe oven at home so that it would keep warm.”
“Okay, good. Can we gohome?”
“Of course. I even gotthose spring rolls that you love.”
“Have I mentioned thatI love you?”
Lexa chuckles, pressing her lips to the side of Clarke’shead. “I love you too ai houmon. Do youwant to ride home with me? I can bring you to work in the morning.”
“Okay.”
“Alright baby, let’sget out of here.”
